Marmol signed a minor league contract with the Indians on Friday. Marmol played in 15 games for the Marlins last season but spent the majority of his time at Triple-A Louisville. He'll likely do the same for the Indians and start with Triple-A Columbus, although a promotion in the near future seems unlikely.

Marmol is in contract talks with the Indians regarding a minor league deal, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports. Marmol signed a minor league deal with Cincinnati last season, but hit the restricted list after leaving Triple-A Louisville without the club's permission. The deal with Cleveland's organization is not set in stone, but if he does agree to terms, there's no guarantee that he'd crack the major league roster.

Carlos Marmol's agent, Paul Kinzer, told CBS Sports' Jon Heyman via text message that he's not sure if his client will pitch again this season. Marmol, who signed a minor league deal with the Reds in late May, was placed on the restricted list at Triple-A Louisville last week after leaving the team without permission. "A lot has happened in the past year and he decided to go to the Dominican," wrote Kinzer. "We aren't sure when or if he will return this year." Kinzer didn't specify why Marmol left the team, but he indicated that there were "personal" reasons behind it and that he wants to "take a mental break."

Carlos Marmol's agent Paul Kinzer said Wednesday that his client has "decided to take a break." Marmol was placed on the restricted list at Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday after leaving the team without permission. "He decided to take a break and just focus on getting back on track," Kinzer told Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish. "He's still healthy and should still be in his prime. His velocity was still in the mid-90s. I don't believe the Reds want to release him. He wants to get his confidence back and take a break mentally."

Carlos Marmol has been placed on the restricted list at Triple-A Louisville after leaving the club without permission. It's not clear why Marmol left or how long he plans to be gone, but obviously it's not ideal as he tries to make it back to the majors. The reliever was signed to a minor league deal two weeks ago after being released by the Marlins. Marmol has allowed three runs while walking six over 3 2/3 frames at Louisville.

Reds signed RHP Carlos Marmol to a minor league contract. Marmol was released by the Marlins last week after giving up 12 earned runs in 13 1/3 innings. We're not expecting much, but he could surface in Cincinnati's bullpen at some point.

Marlins released RHP Carlos Marmol. Marmol was designated for assignment by the Fish eight days ago and apparently drew no interest from other teams on the waiver wire. He surrendered 12 earned runs in 13 1/3 innings (15 relief appearances) for Miami. The Marlins will eat whatever remains from the one-year, $1.25 million free agent contract he signed in mid-February.

The Marlins will designate Carlos Marmol for assignment on Sunday, Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. Since Dan Jennings has to spend a few more days in the minors before being recalled, Sam Dyson could be the choice to replace Marmol in the bullpen for now. He has a 2.76 ERA in 16 1/3 innings in relief in Triple-A.

Carlos Marmol gave up four runs in an inning and took his third loss in relief Saturday against the Padres. This might bring an end to the Marmol era in Miami. He's given up 12 runs and three homers in 13 1/3 innings, sprinkling in 10 walks along the way. The Marlins can't yet recall Dan Jennings to replace him, but they can find someone else to step in until Jennings' 10 days in the minors are up.

Carlos Marmol (hamstring) threw without discomfort Friday. Marmol left Wednesday's game against the Braves with a right hamstring strain, but he's apparently made a quick recovery. He said he'll be available to pitch Friday, but the Marlins are expected to give him a couple more days especially with the cool weather in New York.
