Carlos Lee has announced his retirement from baseball. Lee said on a radio show in Panama that he received offers from four different teams over the offseason, but none of them were for the two years he desired. "El Caballo" hit .285/.339/.483 with 358 homers, 1,363 RBI and 125 stolen bases over 14 major league seasons. In addition to making $130.275 million during his career, Lee also Lee owns and operates profitable cattle ranches, so he's done quite well for himself.

According toÿMLB.com's Joe Frisaro, the Marlins have no interest in re-signing free agent Carlos Lee. With Logan Morrison (knee) questionable for Opening Day, the Marlins currently lack depth at first base, but have all but ruled out bringing back Lee. If Morrison isn't ready for the start of the season, Greg Dobbs or Joe Mahoney would likely be considered for an expanded role. Austin Kearns is also expected to be re-signed and could be added to the mix.

Carlos Lee delivered a walk-off RBI single off Josh Lindblom in the ninth inning on Friday, propelling the Marlins to a 2-1 victory over the Phillies. Lee finished the night 1-for-4, but that one was the critical knock in the ball game. Lee's homer came off Johnny Cueto in the fifth inning, increasing the Marlins' lead to 6-2 at the time. He also added a sacrifice fly earlier on the night. The power numbers aren't quite what we've come to expect from Lee, but he's still having a fairly solid season, hitting .276/.340/.386 with nine homers, 72 RBI and three stolen bases.

Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said he expects Carlos Lee (neck) to play Saturday. Lee went 1-for-3 with an RBI single before leaving Friday's game with a neck strain. It's not a major concern.

According to Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, Carlos Lee continues to draw trade interest from teams that need a right-handed bat. Lee was reportedly placed on waivers earlier this month. We're assuming he cleared, which means he could be traded to any team. Of course, he has 14 teams on his no-trade list and blocked a trade to the Dodgers earlier this year, so he's no lock to be moved. The 36-year-old is batting .278/.346/.388 with eight home runs, 62 RBI and a .733 OPS over 116 games this season.

Carlos Lee finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run on Thursday night in the Marlins' loss the Rockies. Lee opened the game's scoring with his second-inning solo shot, then singled in the eighth. He also drew a walk in the fourth and came around to score on a wild pitch. The 36-year-old has seven total homers and 55 total RBI in 104 games this season.

Carlos Lee told Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald that he is interested in returning to the Marlins next season. "I like this team," said Lee, who was acquired from the Astros in July. "I don't know what their plans are, but I like it here." Spencer was told by a team source that Lee's agent has spoken with the team about returning, but it's not known if the interest is mutual. It's unlikely Lee is in the team's long-term plans, as they already tried to trade him before the deadline and are better off with Logan Morrison at first base as opposed to left field.
