LaHair was reassigned to the Red Sox's minor-league camp Wednesday.
After an unsuccessful stint in the minors with the Indians last season, LaHair will likely serve as organizational depth at first base and the corner outfield. The 32-year-old, who was an All-Star with the Cubs back in 2012, figures to open the year at Double-A Portland, should the Red Sox choose to keep him around after the spring.

LaHair signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.
A surprise All-Star back in 2012, LaHair fell off dramatically in the second half of that season, and he hasn't played in the majors since. He struggled at the Double-A level in 2014, so there's little reason to think he'll help the Red Sox this season.

Indians reassigned 1B Bryan LaHair, C Luke Carlin, and 1B David Cooper to minor league camp.
No real surprises among this round of cuts. LaHair needed surgery this offseason on his wrist and didn't really get a chance to prove himself this spring. The 31-year-old could become useful at some point for the Tribe.

Bryan LaHair (wrist) will make his Cactus League debut Sunday.
LaHair has been brought along slowly in camp following offseason wrist surgery. He could still have time to be ready for Opening Day but seems unlikely to crack the roster.

Bryan LaHair (wrist) has been cleared to swing a bat.
LaHair will only play first base in an intrasquad game Friday, but he'll be allowed to swing the bat during an intrasquad game Saturday. Recovering from a left wrist debridement procedure, LaHair could still have time to be ready for Opening Day but seems unlikely to crack the roster.

Bryan LaHair is not yet cleared to take batting practice after having left wrist debridement surgery in September.
LaHair has been cleared for all other activities and is hitting off a tee as he works his way up to batting practice. Signed to a minor league deal earlier this month, the 31-year-old will almost surely begin the season at Triple-A.

Indians signed 1B/OF Bryan LaHair to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
LaHair, a former All-Star in 2012, was released by the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks of Japan's Pacific League last month after he hit just .230/.236/.428 during his lone season in Nippon Professional Baseball. The 31-year-old will compete for a bench job during spring training.

The Japanese Softbank Hawks released Bryan LaHair.
The 31-year-old former big-leaguer is now a free agent and could elect to return stateside. LaHair was an MLB All-Star only two years ago, slashing .259/.334/.450 in 2012 while manning first base for the Cubs. Of course, he rode a blazing hot first half onto the roster and fell apart after the All-Star break, causing the Cubs to give up on him last winter. He'll have to settle for a minor league pact.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that Bryan LaHair's two-year deal with the Softbank Hawks is for $4.7 million.
It was originally reported as a $4.5 million deal. Heyman says the Hawks are also calling other big leaguers.

Bryan LaHair has agreed to a contract with the Softbank Hawks of the Japanese Pacific League.
The deal will pay him $4.5 million over the next two seasons. It's a nice score for LaHair, who was designated for assignment by the Cubs earlier this week and would have made close to the league minimum had he remained in the major leagues. The 30-year-old first baseman batted .259/.334/.450 in 2012.
