LaHair was reassigned to the Red Sox's minor-league camp Wednesday. After an unsuccessful stint in the minors with the Indians last season, LaHair will likely serve as organizational depth at first base and the corner outfield. The 32-year-old, who was an All-Star with the Cubs back in 2012, figures to open the year at Double-A Portland, should the Red Sox choose to keep him around after the spring.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that Bryan LaHair's two-year deal with the Softbank Hawks is for $4.7 million. It was originally reported as a $4.5 million deal. Heyman says the Hawks are also calling other big leaguers.

It's a nice score for LaHair, who was designated for assignment by the Cubs earlier this week and would have made close to the league minimum had he remained in the major leagues. The 30-year-old first baseman batted .259/.334/.450 in 2012.
