Boesch was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.
Boesch has quietly put together an outstanding season at Triple-A Salt Lake (.326/.380/.625 with 22 homers in 84 games), and he's finally been rewarded with a promotion back to the big club. He'll serve as the designated hitter and bat seventh against Phillies right-hander Jerome Williams on Tuesday, and it seems Boesch man see regular time at DH moving forward, making him an interesting target in AL-only and deeper mixed formats.

Angels signed OF Brennan Boesch to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Boesch batted .275/.302/.529 with three homers over 23 games for the Yankees last season and then failed to catch on elsewhere after being released in July. The 28-year-old was productive at times in the past for the Tigers but could be facing an uphill battle to crack the Angels' Opening Day roster.

Yankees released OF Brennan Boesch.
Boesch was the casualty with the Yankees needing to make room for Brent Lillibridge on the 40-man roster before Friday's game. The 28-year-old outfielder hit .275/.302/.529 with three homers and eight RBI during his 23 games with the Bombers. He shouldn't have a problem catching on elsewhere.

It's not clear how long he'll be out, but Boesch admitted that he's been nursing the condition for a while. Obviously he won't be called up by the Yankees anytime soon.

Boesch is the odd man out now that Andy Pettitte is back from the disabled list. The 28-year-old is batting .275 (14-for-51) with three home runs and eight RBI in sporadic playing time with the Yankees this season. He figures to return later this summer.

Brennan Boesch went 3-for-4 with his third home run of the season in the Yankees' loss to the Mets on Wednesday.
The outfielder drove in two runs on the night, and his three-hit night raised his season line to .271/.300/.542. He's been relegated to part-time duty, but with the injury to Curtis Granderson and his respectable line he could start seeing more at-bats in the near future.
