Blake Hawksworth has elected free agency. Hawksworth had a pretty nice year for the Dodgers in 2011 but missed all of 2012 due to elbow and shoulder woes. He's expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2013 season.

Dodgers activated RHP Blake Hawksworth from the 60-day disabled list; sent him outright to Triple-A Albuquerque. Hawksworth underwent surgery in late August to repair a torn labrum and capsule in his right shoulder. He will likely miss most, if not all, of the 2013 season.

Blake Hawksworth has undergone shoulder surgery. The procedure was designed to correct a torn labrum and capsule in Hawksworth's throwing shoulder, and it apparently went off without a hitch. He'll need at least 12 months of recovery time, however, meaning the right-hander can probably be ruled out for the entire 2013 campaign.

Blake Hawksworth has discontinued his minor league rehab assignment because of shoulder issues. Hawksworth underwent surgery in January to remove a bone spur and scar tissue from his throwing elbow, then had another procedure a few months later to clear up an infection around the surgical wound. And now he's having problems with his shoulder. The right-hander seems doubtful to pitch in the major leagues this year.

Blake Hawksworth (elbow) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with High-A Rancho Cucamonga. Hawksworth had surgery in January to remove a bone spur and scar tissue from his throwing elbow and later required a second procedure to clear up an infection. The 29-year-old right-hander will likely require a lengthy rehab assignment, so he appears doubtful to join the Dodgers' bullpen prior to the All-Star break.
