Diaz walked one and struck out two in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz had given up five runs over 1.1 innings across his last two outings, which came in non-save situations. This was his first save since April 27, and he's now 7-for-8 in save chances this season. A couple of implosions have wreaked havoc on Diaz's ratios -- he's at a 6.08 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB through 13.1 innings, but he's been scored upon in four of his 14 appearances. His walk rate is high, but it hasn't cost him the closer job yet.

Diaz pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Rangers to record his sixth save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
It didn't look like the closer's services would be necessary when the Reds took an 8-0 lead into the ninth inning, but Brent Suter served up back-to-back homers to Davis Wendzel and Corey Seager, and Diaz had to enter the game with one out and the tying run on deck. He was up to the task, needing seven pitches (five strikes) to get the final two outs. While his velocity remains down -- his fastball topped out at 94.0 mph Saturday -- Diaz is still getting results, converting six of seven save chances this season with a 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB through 11 innings.

Diaz earned the save in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Phillies, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing three runs and blowing a save in his first outing this year, Diaz has converted his subsequent five save opportunities, allowing just one run while striking out 10 over his last nine appearances. His ERA is down to 3.48 with a 1.16 WHIP across 10.1 innings this season.

Diaz earned the save Sunday, allowing no hits and one walk with a strikeout over one scoreless inning against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz converted on his fourth consecutive save opportunity, delivering his fifth straight scoreless appearance. During that stretch (5.1 innings) he's allowed one hit and three walks with six punchouts. His four saves is tied for the sixth most in the National League.

Diaz pitched a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout against the Angels on Saturday to earn his third save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz made quick work of Logan O'Hoppe, Nolan Schanuel and Zach Neto, retiring the side on 13 pitches (11 strikes). Since taking the blown save and the loss in his 2024 debut, Diaz has allowed just one earned run on three hits while striking out nine in his last seven appearances, going 3-for-3 in save chances in that span. Now up to 50 saves for his career, Diaz is following in his brother Edwin's footsteps and establishing himself as one of the National League's most trusted closers.

Diaz picked up the save Monday against Milwaukee. He pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one walk and no hits, with no strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz entered the ninth inning with a two-run lead but didn't pitch as cleanly as his line looks. Not only did he walk Christian Yelich in the inning, but he also beaned Sal Frelick before wrapping up the save with a Rhys Hoskins flyball. Diaz remains the main saves option in Cincinnati despite his rocky start and 7.20 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over his first five appearances.

Diaz gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his first save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
After blowing the save in his season debut March 30 against the Nationals, Diaz has quickly gotten on track and picked up a win and a save in his next two appearances while posting a 4:0 K:BB in 2.2 innings. The 27-year-old righty is entrenched as the Reds' closer after racking up 37 saves last year and delivering a 2.62 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 11.69 K/9 over 134 innings since making his big-league debut in 2022.

Diaz (1-1) struck out two over 1.2 hitless and scoreless innings to pick up the win over Philadelphia on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz entered the eighth inning with one out and two inherited runners on and promptly picked off the lead runner. He went one to retire all four batters faced before Spencer Steer won it with a grand slam in the 10th inning. It was a nice bounce-back performance by Diaz, who blew a save his first time out. He only threw 14 pitches to get those five outs and presumably would be ready for a save opportunity Tuesday.

Diaz (0-1) was charged with the blown save and the loss Saturday against the Nationals. He allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one batter in one-third of an inning.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz had some calls go against him and the game-tying run came across on a hit-by-pitch that just grazed Keibert Ruiz's uniform. Still, it was a rather uninspiring performance as Diaz's stuff looked flat and his command was off. Diaz ran out of steam last year, but he should still have a decent leash in the closer role. Emilio Pagan, Lucas Sims and Brent Suter represent the top options behind Diaz should he fail to get on track.

Diaz allowed two runs on two hits and struck out one over one inning in Monday's spring game against Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz made his second Cactus League appearance, entering to start the fourth inning. He's one of a handful of closers deemed to have a high degree of security, so it will take more than one deleterious spring outing for the Reds to be concerned. Diaz recorded 37 saves (40 chances) in 2023.
