Castellanos is hitting .313/.404/.697 with eight home runs and 25 runs batted in for Triple-A Las Vegas. Castellanos has been raking for the 51s, which is not surprising given his career minor-league numbers. Despite that fine performance, he is likely not a candidate for a promotion any time soon.

Castellanos suffered a bruised right foot during Saturday's 6-4 Grapefruit League loss to the Tigers, Newsday's Marc Carig reports. Manager Terry Collins initially said Castellanos rolled his ankle, but apparently the 28-year-old escaped with only a bruise. Castellanos is batting just .172 so far this spring and has dealt with a couple injuries, hurting his already minimal chances of breaking camp with the major league team.

X-rays on Castellanos' injured finger turned up negative Saturday, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports. Castellanos took a pitch to his right index and middle fingers in Friday's exhibition against the Tigers, but it appears he was fortunate to avoid any sort of fracture. The Mets will likely keep him out of spring training action for the next few days as a precaution.

Alex Castellanos smacked his first home run of the Cactus League season in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers. He got the start at third base in this one, and with injuries to Chase Headley and Cameron Maybin this spring, Castellanos has a legitimate shot at making the Padres in a utility role.
