Burleson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty-hitting Burleson will remain on the bench for a second straight game while the Cardinals oppose another southpaw starting pitcher (Sean Manaea). Ivan Herrera will replace Burleson as St. Louis' designated hitter.

Burleson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty-hitting Burleson's streak of five consecutive starts will come to an end while he exits the lineup with southpaw Garrett Crochet on the hill for the White Sox. With Burleson on the bench, Willson Contreras will get a day off of catching and instead serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter.

Burleson went 3-for-9 with a home run and five RBI across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader split against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
After going 1-for-4 with an RBI single in the matinee, Burleson went deep off Tyler Holton in the fifth inning of the nightcap. Burleson's two-hit game in the second contest was his first multi-hit performance since April 10, and on the season the 25-year-old outfielder is slashing .273/.324/.394 through 24 games with two homers, four runs and 10 RBI.

Burleson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals are giving Willson Contreras a day off behind the plate and having him serve as the designated hitter, so Burleson will bow out of the lineup as Ivan Herrera enters the starting nine at catcher. Burleson had served as St. Louis' DH in both of the past two games, going 2-for-5 with a home run, two walks and three RBI.

Burleson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Friday's 4-2 win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
His second-inning shot off Jose Butto gave Miles Mikolas and the Cardinals' bullpen all the offense they would need. It was Burleson's first long ball of the year, and his first extra-base hit since April 8. Jordan Walker's demotion cements Burleson into a strong-side platoon role, but his .259/.310/.352 slash line through 58 plate appearances with three runs and five RBI doesn't offer a lot of fantasy appeal.

Burleson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
While his path to regular playing time against right-handed pitching has opened up a bit with Jordan Walker getting optioned to Triple-A Memphis earlier Wednesday, the lefty-hitting Burleson is still projected to sit regularly against lefties. Burleson's absence from the lineup Wednesday thus comes as little surprise with southpaw Jordan Montgomery on the hill for Arizona.

Burleson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Burleson opened the season in a strong-side platoon role, but he's lost his grip on a regular spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitching in the wake of Lars Nootbaar's return from the 10-day injured list last week. The 25-year-old will find himself on the bench Wednesday for a sixth consecutive game.

Burleson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Burleson is absent from the lineup while St. Louis faces a right-hander (Joe Musgrove) on Wednesday, but the 25-year-old should still play fairly regularly against righties for the early part of the season until the Cardinals get two of Lars Nootbaar (rib), Dylan Carlson (shoulder) and Tommy Edman (wrist) back from the injured list. While Burleson takes a seat Wednesday, Willson Contreras will get a day off behind the dish and will serve as St. Louis' designated hitter.

Burleson will serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter and No. 6 batter in Thursday's season opener against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals have been hamstrung by injuries, but Burleson also earned a spot in the Opening Day lineup with a .988 OPS this spring. At least to start the season, the lefty-hitting Burleson looks to have earned the strong side of a platoon role at designated hitter over fellow lefty hitter Matt Carpenter.

Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said Friday that Burleson will receive starter's reps in left field while Lars Nootbaar (ribs) is sidelined, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team hasn't officially ruled Nootbaar out for Opening Day as he recovers from two fractured ribs, but a stint on the injured list seems very likely. It had seemed not long ago that Burleson might be on the outside looking in to even make the roster, but with Nootbaar and Tommy Edman (wrist) out, he could now receive regular starts versus right-handed pitching for a while. The 25-year-old is 7-for-18 with a 0:3 K:BB in his first eight Grapefruit League contests.
