Loewen signed a minor league deal with the Rangers on Monday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Loewen was DFA'd by the Diamondbacks back in August, and he'll now attempt to work his way back to the major leagues with the Rangers organization. The 32-year-old appeared in only eight MLB games last season, spending the bulk of the year at the Triple-A level, where he posted a 3.91 ERA across 46.0 innings.

Loewen was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Loewen pitched 19.1 innings last year and compiled a 6.98 ERA which is not too far off from his career 5.55 ERA he's produced in 183.1 innings between Baltimore and Philadelphia in his major league career. Given the left-hander's poor major league track record, he will likely be relegated to the minors in 2016 but if a Diamondback bullpen member goes down with an injury, he could see a promotion.
