Steeves was scratched for the ninth straight game in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Panthers.

The Bruins have mostly stuck with the same group of forwards lately, leaving Steeves out of the lineup for all but three of 19 games since the Olympic break. Lukas Reichel has been the one to snag the bottom-six role Steeves was operating in prior to the break. It's still been a decent campaign for Steeves, who has 16 points, 52 shots on net, 140 hits, 32 PIM and 27 blocked shots over 41 appearances in his first year with the Bruins.

Minten had gone six games without a goal, earning two assists in that span. The 21-year-old is filling a top-line role at even strength, though Elias Lindholm and Pavel Zacha still regularly see more ice time based on game situations. Minten has still had a strong first full NHL campaign, earning 17 goals, 34 points, 109 shots on net, 132 hits, 50 blocked shots and a plus-21 rating through 76 appearances, mainly in a middle-six capacity.

Samoskevich scored a goal on two shots, added two PIM and logged three hits in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Bruins.

EDGE Analysis

Samoskevich has scored in three straight contests. While he was briefly caught up in the wave of injuries the Panthers are dealing with, he limited his absence to three games and is currently filling a middle-six role with power-play time. It hasn't led to consistent increases in ice time, but Samoskevich could be a decent streaming option for the rest of the campaign. The 23-year-old has earned nine goals, 26 points, 145 shots on net, 128 hits, 31 blocked shots and 28 PIM through 70 appearances.

Martinook scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

EDGE Analysis

Martinook has scored in consecutive contests, and he's tallied five of his 12 goals since March 6. The third-line winger remains a reliable depth forward for the Hurricanes, though he could still fall short of the 30-point mark this year. He's at 26 points, 105 shots on net, 111 hits, 46 blocked shots, 33 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 72 appearances.

Svechnikov scored a power-play goal and added two hits in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

EDGE Analysis

Svechnikov's goal streak is up to three games, and all four points during that run have come on the power play. The 26-year-old winger has had an excellent campaign with 28 goals, 65 points (28 on the power play), 187 shots on net, 136 hits, 60 PIM and a minus-2 rating over 75 appearances. He's locked into a top-line job and has a chance to earn his first 70-point campaign.

Quick will defend the home crease versus Detroit on Saturday, per Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic.

EDGE Analysis

Quick will make his first start since he was injured in practice March 21. He has posted a 5-16-2 record in 2025-26, with a 3.18 GAA and an .889 save percentage across 23 games. The Red Wings are 21st in NHL scoring, averaging 2.91 goals per game.

Gibson will start Saturday's road game against the Rangers, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

EDGE Analysis

Gibson has gone 2-4-0 with a 3.36 GAA and .884 save percentage over his last six appearances, but he's coming off a win over Philadelphia on Thursday in which he allowed just two goals on 34 shots (.941 save percentage). The Rangers are generating 2.82 goals per game this year, which is the ninth-worst mark in the league.

Vaakanainen (upper body) was practicing in a regular jersey Friday, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Vaakainen has been sidelined since March 18 versus the Devils, a stretch of eight games on the shelf due to his upper-body injury. Even if the 27-year-old blueliner is cleared to play, he's far from a lock to get into the lineup and could find himself serving as a healthy scratch periodically.

Jones had right shoulder surgery and will be out 4-6 months, the Penguins announced Friday.

EDGE Analysis

Jones hasn't played since Oct. 23 due to a lower-body injury and a 20-game suspension. The blueliner was already ruled out for the remainder of the season, so this announcement doesn't come as a surprise. The 28-year-old Texas native should be ready in time for the 2026-27 campaign, barring any setbacks.

Severson underwent successful shoulder surgery Thursday and will miss the rest of the season.

EDGE Analysis

The surgery ends what was one of the top campaigns of Severson's career. The defenseman had eight goals, 24 assists, a plus-18 rating and 86 blocked shots over 71 games. Severson should be ready to go in time for training camp in September.
