Wayne Simmonds skated on the top line during Tuesday's morning skate. He joined Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell as new coach Craig Berube shuffled his line combinations. Simmonds is still looking for his first point of the year, but he has contributed nine penalty minutes, six shots and eight hits through three contests.

"He was loose, he was popping around the ice, he had great snap on his stick and was jumping around on his skates, so he looked good to me." He ended up missing some practices and Tuesday's preseason contest due to the illness.

The start of the season is still nine days away so both should be ready for the start of the season. Simmonds had a good fantasy season in 2013 as he had 15 goals and 32 points with 16 points on the power play to go with 82 penalty minutes. Look for a 25 goal and 50 point season in 2013-14 with over 100 penalty minutes. He should be drafted in the middle rounds in traditional pools.

Once the regular season gets started look for Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn to get the first opportunity to play on the Flyers' second line alongside newly-acquired Vincent Lecavalier. Simmonds, who will not play in Sunday's pre-season game in London, Ontario against the Maple Leafs due to a an alleged racial incident that happened two years ago, could benefit from the space the imposing Lecavalier will create. If Simmonds and Schenn stick on Vinny's line, the Flyers could ice a third unit of Max Talbot, Sean Couturier and Matt Read. The team's top line will feature Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell and Jakub Voracek.

Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds doesn't seem to mind that Ilya Bryzgalov's net now belongs to the tandem of Ray Emery and Steve Mason. While the Flyers have some quite a bit of interest in Steve Mason, Ray Emery's 2013 numbers were phenomenal (while Mason's were far from that). With that in mind, it should be an interesting battle after Bryzgalov's workhorse run.

Wayne Simmonds scored his first career hat trick in the Flyers' 5-3 win over the Hurricanes Saturday. The 24-year-old right winger finished with a career-high four points in the win on Saturday. "It feels good," Simmonds said after the game. "I feel like Scott Hartnell today." Hartnell registered a hat trick in Montreal on Monday. Simmonds can be a valuable fantasy all-around contributor for the stretch run.

Wayne Simmonds notched a hat trick and an assist to power the Flyers to a 5-3 win over the Hurricanes on Saturday night. With no goals and just two assists over his last eight games, Simmonds had been very quiet lately. He busted out of his slump in a big way on Saturday, though, lifting his season goal total to 15 and his point total to 31 in 42 games. He also had two penalty minutes as a reminder to fantasy owners that he can be a valuable all-around contributor. Matt Read also had a goal and two helpers, while Jakub Voracek potted the other.

Wayne Simmonds snapped a seven-game goal slump in Tuesday's loss to the New York Rangers. Simmomds earned just one assist during his goalless slide. He also required stitches in the contest after Luke Schenn's clearing attempt struck him above his lip. He has been a good source of penalty minutes (61) and points (21) this season despite his current cold streak.
