DAILY PRIME- OCTOBER 8, 2014: TEAM RANKINGS, ***NEW FEATURE, LET TH... primepucks.com Wed 10/8/14 4:59 AM

The TEAM RANKINGS have been updated for thestart of the season. See where your favorite team stacks up against the rest of the NHL in the PrimePucks Team Rankings located in the right margin in the TOP RANKINGS Section. ***Check out our new daily feature where PrimePucks gives you what we believe are the top fantasy players for the night. The section is entitled "Daily Roto Hockey Value Picks" and will be updated each and every day that there are NHL games being played. Remember that these are the best "value" picks for that night's games.  We hope you like our changes. Four games on the NHL slate debut the 2014-15 season, which feature several interesting fantasy-worthy matchups. All eyes will be on the Vancouver Canucks and whether they can recapture the glory days under new coach Willie Desjardins. Gone is former All-Star goalie Roberto Luongo and taking his place is perennial Vezina hopeful Ryan Miller. The Sedin brothers looked poised for a comeback year as they will have newly acquired Radim Vrbata flanked on their right side to start the season. All four players are premium value picks in daily fantasy leagues for tonight's matchup against Calgary. I would pack my lineup with the key Canucks.. If you are looking for a short-term value pick, Boston's Ryan Spooner might fit the bill. While the prospect was initially sent packing back to the AHL, a supposedly minor injury to top center David Krejci might have him skating between Milan Lucic and Loui Eriksson in tonight's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. On the other side, LW Wayne Simmonds has skated the last two days and should be available tonight. He looks safe to insert into your starting lineup, but monitor the situation leading up to game-time. Toronto's RW Phil Kessel is probable for tonight's rival clash with Montreal. His linemate James van Riemsdyk is coming off a spectacular pre-season which can catapult him in the upper-echelon of scoring left wingers. He flashed his brilliance with a solid 30-goal/ 61-point campaign last season but can he click with Kessel on a more consistent basis? If he does, here comes 75-80 points. Look for the two to start the season strong. In Los Angeles, the Cup champs will raise the banner while facing a team they own in the playoffs- the San Jose Sharks. Something tells me that fantasy owners will get serious returns in 2014-15 on spurned star forwards Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau who were stripped of their leadership roles in the off-season. While the duo will play with something to prove, don't expect huge stats in tonight's game as King's starting goalie Jonathan Quick should be the best player on the ice. A solid sleeper pick to insert in your daily lineups is King's center Tyler Toffoli. The second line could be involved in a few goals if all defensive attention is diverted on the Anze Kopitar/Marian Gaborik unit.

DAILY PRIME- OCTOBER 5, 2014: PRESEASON BITS & UPDATED DRAFT GUIDE primepucks.com Sun 10/5/14 6:14 AM

***The 2014-2015 PrimePucks FantasyHockey Draft Guide and 3-Year Statistical Spreadsheet have been updated through the morning of October 5th.  Go to "My Account" and then to the "Files" tab and you can download the updated Guide and Spreadsheet. Tyler Toffoli scored two goals while linemate Tanner Pearson scooped up two assists in the Kings 3-2 loss to Colorado. They will have their moments of "hot" scoring stretches playing with Jeff Carter, but the lack of playing time should temper your fantasy expectations. Playing behind Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik on a defensive-minded team can't help... A few superstars already in mid-season form: Corey Perry, who scored the OT game-winner against the Sharks and Sergei Bobrovsky, who stopped 45 of 47 shots in the win over Nashville... Two of the 60-point variety which are excellent middle-round value picks, Boston C Patrice Bergeron (3G) and Minnesota RW Jason Pominville (3A) enjoyed huge nights. Very consistent but not much upside. You need these type of forwards to win, so don't take for granted... Forever teasing us with his immense talent, Winnipeg's Evander Kane gave us more to think about with two goals in the 4-1 win over Calgary. If you can take him close to the mid-rounds, I say low risk/high reward as he is going to explode one day soon... Is Willie Desjardins going to fo wonders for the Sedins out in Vancouver? You betcha, as Daniel scores ones while brother Henrik chips in with two helpers. Just like the old days. Don't forget about Radim Vrbata who picked up his 3rd preseason goal on his new team. Only a few years removed from a 35-goal campaign, this guy can bury the puck. If he clicks with "Swedish Heaven", he is a downright steal in the late rounds.. David Krejci left the Boston game with a very monor injury, but should be ready to go by Opening night.. Memo to Lubomir Visnovsky owners- Nick Leddy is coming! Even if starts the season opener, Visnovsky will find it difficult to stay healthy the entire season. The young Leddy is oozing offensive upside and is getting a new lease on life after his trade from Chicago, so he is well worth a flier.

DAILY PRIME-SEPTEMBER 29, 2014: PRESEASON NOTES & UPDATED GUIDE primepucks.com Mon 9/29/14 5:42 PM

***PrimePucks is always striving to bring you the most current and up-to-date information so that you won't be a step behind in your fantasy hockey pool.  The 2014-2015 PrimePucks Fantasy Hocey Draft Guide has been updated with he most recent developments, and we will continue to do so up to the opening faceoff. Just go to "MY ACCOUNT" and click on the FILES tab and upload the current Draft Guide or order yours now by clicking on the link above.  Don'  t head into your draft without the most dynamic tool you will ever find! Jeff Carter lit up Anaheim goalie Federik Anderson 3 times as the line of Carter-Tyler Toffoli-Tanner Pearson combined for seven points. The trio showed plenty of chemistry as the King's dominant second line during their Stanley Cup run. They have picked up where they left off in the post season so far.. Carey Price was stellar for the Habs, stopping 29 of 30 shots in their 2-0 loss to Washington. Feel free to draft him early, as he looks fully recovered from a knee injury that ended his playoff run. Steady and elite.. James van Riemsdyk continues his brilliant preseason with another goal, while superstar Phil Kessel led the way with a goal and an assist. This duo is going to reap huge fantasy dividends, especially if van Riemsdyk takes that huge leap forward.. Edmonton captain and defenseman Andrew Ference left the game against Chicago last night with a right arm injury. Minimal fantasy implications, but it could be a huge blow to a team that desperately needs to improve on the defensive end.. The word is that Jonathan Quick could have played last night, with King's coach Brent Sutter planning to get him in 2-3 exhibition games. Quick should be drafted top-five amongst goalies, but don't expect him to get more than 60-65 games.

DAILY PRIME - DECEMBER 11, 2013: BIG NIGHTS FROM THE NHL ELITE primepucks.com Wed 12/11/13 5:59 AM

Alex Ovechkin scored 4 goals, including a last-minute game-tying tally, in Washington's 6-5 come-back win over Tampa Bay. With 26 goals in 29 games, the absence of Steven Stamkos makes the chances of anyone catching "Ovie" for the Maurice Richard Trophy slim to none. Nicklas Backstrom actually finished with more points in the contest, collecting a goal and 4 assists. After going scoreless in seven straight, the talented center has 7 points in the last three games. Regardless of a scoring drought, you never sit Backstrom out of your fantasy lineup.... Patrick Kane continues his ascent up the fantasy elite with another three points (1G/2A) in the 6-2 Chicago win over Dallas, giving him 12 points in the last 6 games. With 40 points on the season, the slick winger sits second in the NHL in scoring. For all of those pundits, including myself, that thought Kane would take a step back after hoisting the Cup, he is making a huge statement.  Patrick Sharp continues his hot streak with 2 goals.... Martin St. Louis extended his point streak to three games with a goal and two assists in the OT loss to Washington. Even without Stamkos, the ageless wonder is just barely out of the top-ten in scoring with 30 points. Don't discount him as he is still an elite fantasy forward who will get "hotter" when Stamkos returns. For now, marginal players like Tyler Johnson have seen a boost in fantasy value playing alongside St. Louis....The dynamic trio in Edmonton- Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins- combined for 6 points in the Oiler's OT win over Carolina. Eberle provided the overtime heroics with his 11th goal and 27th point in 32 games. His recent hot streak will have him over a point-per-game pace real soon, so trade for this guy if you can.  As for Hall, only injuries stand in his way as a permanent top-five fixture amongst fantasy forwards.... While playing for a "lousy" team, superstar John Tavares keeps notching the points, two more assists last night in the improbable 2-1 Islander win over San Jose.... Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk seamlessly returned from a concussion, scoring a goal and an assist in the 3-2 loss to Florida. He now has 25 points in as many games, so activate him ASAP.... Easy win for Los Angeles last night 6-0 over Montreal. Rookie goaltender Martin Jones had his second straight shutout with 31 saves, and with Jonathan Quick out, and Ben Scrivens in Coach Darryl Sutter's dog house, this guy is a great short term pickup. Young center Tyler ...
