The Wild have assigned Tyler Cuma and Johan Gustafsson to Iowa of the AHL. Neither of these demotions is a surprise. Even if Cuma or Gustafssson re-appear in Minnesota some time during the season neither is worthy of a roster add.

Tyler Cuma has agreed to a one-year, two-way extension with the Minnesota Wild. Cuma had a goal and 12 points in 42 AHL contests last season. He was selected in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, but has only participated in a single NHL game so far.

He might arrive just before warmups after playing in Abbotsford, British Columbia on Wednesday night with AHL Houston. So travel permitting, the former first-round pick in 2008 should be in the starting lineup.
