DeAngelo is drawing comparisons to former Lightning defender, Dan Boyle, according to the Tampa Bay Times. "You hate to compare the great players to the up-and-coming players because sometimes it's very unfair," said assistant coach, George Gwozdecky, who just happened to recruit Boyle to Miami (Ohio) in the mid 90s. "But certainly, some of the qualities you see in Anthony, his ability to be able to transition the puck and see the ice and make plays, they're all there."
You'd think Gwozdecky would know what he's talking about when it comes to drawing this comp. DeAngelo held his own in his first NHL exhibition game Friday, playing 13:40 and finishing plus-1. At 5-11 and 173, this right-shooting QB-type just needs time to develop and get stronger. He reads the game well already, so dynasty leaguers need to roster him soon.

Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steve Yzerman thinks of Dan Boyle when evaluating Anthony DeAngelo.
The Lightning took DeAngelo with the 19th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. "He's a guy that controls the game from the back end and can really skate and can really move the puck," Yzerman said. "I think your first impression of him, the way he wears his equipment, the way he skates, and he's a right-handed shot, it's a good comparison to Dan Boyle. I don't know if he's going to turn into Dan Boyle, but we'd be thrilled if he did. But that's who he reminds me of and the style of game that he has." DeAngelo certainly has the offensive potential to become a great option in fantasy leagues down the road. He had 15 goals and 71 points in 51 OHL games in 2013-14.
