Vokoun get the win in his first start of the season, and will get his second of year tonight against Winnipeg. It appears like Vokoun and Fleury might split starts this season, at least that is the way it's going so far. In daily leagues it would be a good idea to get both of them on your roster.

The NHL In 30 continues with the NY Rangers! A small taste of what to expect in the NHL In 30 Series... Marc-Andre Fleury is just a perfect match for the Penguins, giving them steady and consistent performances in net while their opponents worry more about how to stop Crosby and Malkin than trying to score for themselves. Management made an interesting move in the off-season bringing in veteran Tomas Vokoun to backup Fleury. Curious move all around but perhaps Vokoun saw this as a last chance for a cup. Or perhaps Fleury is hiding an injury? Probably not, but this does looks suspicious. Either way, the Pens are fine in the crease. read more

TRADE ALERT: G TOMAS VOKOUN TO THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS FOR A SEVENTH-ROUND PICK AND SIGNED TO A TWO-YEAR/$4 MILLION CONTRACT EXTENSION ANALYSIS Not the best news for Vokoun fantasy owners, considering that incumbent Penguin goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is signed through 2014-15 and should be entrenched as the starter entering next season. However, keep in mind that Vokoun represents an upgrade in the crease over back-ups Brent Johnson or Brad Thiessen, meaning Fleury better pick up his game or risk losing his starting job. Funny enough, Vokoun might have an easier time supplanting Fleury than Washington's emerging phenom Braden Holtby. In all probability though, the Czech netminder will be riding the bench more often than not, minimizing his fantasy value for 2012-13.

The Penguins needed some stability in goal following Fleury's poor play but we're currently unsure of how the goaltending situation in Pittsburgh will look in the upcoming season. At the very least, Vokoun can provide solid backup play and help reduce Fleury's workload.
