Boston Bruins star goaltender Tim Thomas acknowledged on his Facebook page today that he will definitely be taking the 2012- 2013 season off. In this highly unusual move, Thomas indicated that he needed to reconnect with the three F's: Friends, Family and Faith. Thomas has one year left on his contract with Boston, and unfortunately his $5 million cap hit does not go away next season with his absence. After a sensational season in 2011 when he won the Vezina Trophy and led the Bruins to the Stanley Cup championship, Thomas came back to earth somewhat this past season, although his numbers were still solid at 35-19-1 with a 2.36 GAA and .920 SV %. Regardless of his decent numbers, the Bruins were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Washington Capitals.
