DAILY PRIME TODAY: PERRON AND SKINNER UNDER THE RADAR primepucks.com Wed 12/4/13 5:35 AM

Two of the top offensive producers from last night's packed slate of games are arguably the most underrated in fantasy circles, as Jeff Skinner and David Perron do not get enough "love". The Carolina winger recorded 2 goals and an assist during the 4-1 romp in Washington, while Perron led the Oiler's offense with two goals in a losing cause. In the case of Skinner, he has been vastly overlooked because of his extensive history with injuries. He simply can't stay on the ice long enough to produce for fantasy teams, but when he does, he scores. In 17 games, he now has 14 points (6G/8A), including 54 SOG. With the injury to Alex Semin, the 21-year old has been put on a line with Eric Staal, with whom he enjoyed most of his success during his Calder Trophy run in '10-11. With Joni Pitkanen out for tthe entire season, Skinner has been utilized at the point on the power-play with Justin Faulk in recent games. If he can stay healthy, expect a huge boost of offense from Skinner.. Perron brings tons of offensive upside to the table, but he gets lost in the shuffle because of his more famous teammates. Let's see.. Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, RNH... You get the picture! However, the 25-year old has been their most consistent forward, collecting 22 points (11G/11A) in 25 games. His six seasons in St. Louis never resulted in huge numbers, mainly because the defensive-minded Blues always rely on a scoring-by-committee approach. In Edmonton, being a top-six forward in a potentially explosive offense can pay big dividends in fantasy. Keep him in your lineups, as he has showed little signs of slowing down. More Game Notes: The stars were out tonight, as Sidney Crosby scored two goals in the 3-2 win over the Isles, including a ridiculous OT move with the whole defense draped all over him. Fellow elite fantasy forwards, Evgeni Malkin and John Tavares, finished the contest with two assists apiece. Crosby leads the entire NHL with 37 points, followed by Malkin (34) and Tavares tied for third (32). This trio is surely lighting it up for their fantasy owners. However, Kyle Okposo of the Isles, who scored two goals in the game, has been a rising fantasy forward amidst the team's early struggles. With 25 points in 28 games and a plum assignment on the top line, his offensive contributions cannot be ignored. While his streakiness will drive you nuts, he should shatter his previous career highs in points and remain an above-average fantasy option.. With two goals last night, ...

DAILY PRIME - NOVEMBER 29, 2013: BRYZGALOV IS BACK, ANDERSON STRUGG... primepucks.com Fri 11/29/13 7:52 AM

Quiet night yesterday in the NHL as there were only two games played.  A lot of players have gone down with injuries as Nashville defenseman Shea Weber left last night's game with a UBI. He got hit with the puck in his face.  Not sure how long he might be out, but it should not be too long.  Toronto forward Joffrey Lupul is out with a groin strain, while promising young Calgary forward Sean Monahan will be out a while with a hairline fracture in his foot. We are very high on Monahan's potential.  The big news yesterday was the return of Oilers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov with a shutout for Edmonton against the admittedly offensively challenged Nashville Predators. I will Have a Romie Hits The Post piece later today on Bryzgalov and how we view him. I don't know about you all, but I have no interest in shopping today, and I intend to stay home and watch the Rangers/Bruins game, and hopefully come up with some good insights, especially about the Rangers trouble with scoring goals. Anderson shoots the pooch:  Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson is having just a brutal season. His record is 6-8-2, but his metrics are just terrible at 3.51 goals against and a .894 save percentage. Last night he gave up 4 goals on only 15 shots before being replaced by Robin Lehner. You have to consider Lehner as the Senators' starting goalie at this point as his save percentage at 2.38 is more than a goal per game less than Anderson.  Hard to understand what is happening to Anderson, as last year, for example, he went 12-9-2 with a 1.69 goals against and a .941 save percentage.  Right now he can't stop a basketball.  The Sedin twins each had 2 points for Vancouver, and they continue to be point per game players.  Nice game for Roberto Luongo in goal for Vancouver with the win and 33 saves. Bryzgalov arrives:  Well he came back from obscurity with a big bang as he shutout the Predators with 33 saves.  Edmonton may be the right place for him with all their good young talent, and a small market media.  He clearly was out of his element in the media crazy city of Philadelphia.  We shall see, but Devan Dubnyk's future in Edmonton is very much in doubt now. Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall each had a goal and an assist last night for the Oilers. While we are high on Eberle, Hall has 19 points in 19 games played, and we view him as a future superstar.  Nashville's young goaltender Marek Mazanec took the loss, but he played well allowing only 2 goals on 27 shots. His 2.02 goals against and ...

SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE - 11/10/2013 primepucks.com Sun 11/10/13 11:41 AM

Coffee time! This is probably your best opportunity to grab some Philadelphia Flyers on the cheap from some disgruntled owners.   Perfect "buy-low" time on the entire team. Giroux scored his first goal of the season. For Giroux owners, this could be the opening of the floodgates. With the Oilers agreeing to a contract with ex-Flyer Goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, and the trading of Ladislav Smid, this is the start of the transformation in Edmonton. I mean how much longer can this team languish near the bottom of the standings every year. The New York Rangers have shaken off the early season disaster and now sit 3rd in the Metropolitan Divison. Taylor Hall returned from injury and should get back on track for a career year. One day soon, maybe next season, The Ottawa Senators are going to have to give the reigns to G Robin Lehner. He's soooo good. The Bruins are starting to heat up, especially Patrice Bergeron Even with the new Head Coach in Florida, it's gonna take a while. This Ben Bishop is having some year, isn't he? I thought this season was going to be different for the NY Islanders. I have always been high on Columbus C Ryan Johansen. One day, he will be a star. What a game last night in St. Louis! Good to see James Neal back in the lineup. What has happened to Sergei Gonchar this year? He has literally disappeared from the score sheets. Is it me, or does Phoenix seem to have a more balanced offense with more scoring than in past years? This LA Kings team can get dangerous real quick. No pun intended. There will be no letting up in Colorado this year. Bottom 5 teams in the NHL? Edmonton, Buffalo, Florida, Philadelphia and Columbus.  Which one doesn't belong? Anaheim at the top of the standings. Kudos for Coach Boudreau! Out of the top 10 scorers, Steen is a definite "sell-high" candidate. Colonel Klinkhammer was held off the board again. Did you see that Tyler Toffoli scored 2 goals and an assist against the Canucks on Saturday? That's a point in all 3 games so far this season.  I'd grab him now if available. Enjoy your week everyone!

Injury: Updating an earlier report. Hall will play tonight vs. Tamp... dailyfaceoff.com Thu 11/7/13 7:56 PM

17 days after spraining his left knee. It's well ahead of the four-week prognostication after the second-degree sprain when hit by Eric Gryba. Hall will have to wear a brace on his knee the rest of the season, but that's a small price to pay to be back, for Thursday's game on a line with Sam Gagner and Nail Yakupov.

Injury: Looks as if Taylor Hall (knee) will return to the Oilers li... dailyfaceoff.com Thu 11/7/13 2:56 PM

Hall missed the last seven games with a knee injury that he suffered on October 19. The Oilers have been struggling - one win in last six games - so Hall will be a welcomed addition to the lineup. He had three goals and five assists with a minus-6 rating in nine games.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 11/7/2013 primepucks.com Thu 11/7/13 2:14 PM

ALL GOALIES CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT TIME OF PRINT The King gets the night off as Cam Talbot gets the nod against Sergei Bobrovsky and the Columbus Blue Jackets. This game has letdown written all over it as the Rangers played and beat the Pittsburgh Penguins last night.  Expect some of the ex-Rangers on Columbus to have some extra zip in their step tonight knowing the Rangers played last night.  Blue Jackets over Blueshirts...Kevin Poulin in net for the Islanders on the road against Justin Peters and the Carolina Hurricanes. Poulin actually has the better numbers so expect the young net minder to get some more starts over the next few games, especially if he wins tonight.  Peters and the Canes did manage to end their 5-game losing streak, but it was against the somehow, inept Philadelphia Flyers.  Lightning won't strike twice in Carolina.  Pullin' for Poulin....Josh Harding gets another start on way to possibly solidifying the No. 1 spot in Minnesota. He's got a tough assignment against the powerhouse Washington Capitals and Braden Holtby, but The Wild's defense and Harding's goaltending will make it difficult for the Caps after having played the Islanders, Panthers and Flyers. Harding....Robin Lehner gets the call for Ottawa as starter Craig Anderson gets another night to recover. The Sens have struggled lately, winning only twice in past 8 games, and are facing Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens, who are having some troubles of their own, losing 3 in a row. Look for Price and the Habs to rebound after a tough loss to St. Louis last time out.  This has the makings of a nail-biter as the two Canadian clubs are desperate for a win. Edge to Price.....Can the Dallas Stars make it a 3-game road sweep?  Not if Jimmy Howard and the Detroit Red Wings have any say, and I think they will have plenty. Kari Lehtonen played lights out in Ottawa and in Boston, stealing the extra point in the shootout in both games. Don't see that happening again.  Go with Howard....The Edmonton Oilers will be facing red-hot Tampa Bay Goalie, Ben Bishop, and will have the services of Taylor Hall back in their lineup. Devan Dubnyk (LIKELY) is not having the kind of start the Oilers had been banking on, and even though he did get the win last game out versus Florida, he will have a much tougher time on the West Coast of Florida.  Bishop has been too solid, go with the Bolts...This will be St. Louis backup goalie Brian Elliott's third start of the season and it will be ...

Hall will miss his sixth straight game with the knee injury that he suffered on October 19th vs. Ottawa. Hall has battled injuries throughout his career, but hopefully he can turn the corner to good health following his return from the latest injury. Monitor his status throughout the week.

This is a terrible break for the Oilers who's lineup has been depleted by injuries all month. Coming into the season Hall looked poised for another great season, but concerns about injury always loom near with the 21-year-old. Expect Nail Yakupov to take on an expanded role as he looks to fill in for Hall and get back into coach Dallas Eakins good graces.

Hall will not play tomorrow in Montreal. Monitor his status later today and tomorrow to see how severe this knee injury is.
