The Flyers continue to alternate starting goaltenders. Mason was great for the Flyers his last time out, leading them to a 4-2 win over the Rangers.

Mason's 38 saves are the only reason the Flyers ended up winning that game and staying in playoff contention. Mason has been serviceable since the move from Columbus and with the team clearly souring on Bryzgalov, has an opportunity to step up into the starter's role to end the season.

Mason is 0-2 as Flyer but has a nice 1.74 GAA. He was obviously a wreck in Columbus this season and is a very risky start against a hungry Rangers squad.

In his first start for his new club on April 9, Mason allowed 3 goals on 31 shots to lose 4-1 to the Islanders.

Mason gets his first start as a Flyer.

Mason has played just one period thus far for the Flyers, making nine saves on nine shots in a 4-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets Saturday in relief of starter Ilya Bryzgalov. Mason, the 2009 Calder Trophy winner as a rookie with the Columbus Blue Jackets, was acquired in a trade last week in exchange for Michael Leighton and a 2015 third round draft pick. Mason has a career record of 96-99-27 with a 2.90 goals against average and a .903 save percentage. He also has 19 career shutouts.

Steve Mason is a former rookie of the year will replace Leighton as Ilya Bryzgalov's backup.

It will be Mason's first start since March 5th.
