Downie is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will not play Thursday against the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
Downie, who has recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in 14 games this season, will hope to return to action Saturday against Columbus. John Scott is expected to slot into the Coyotes' lineup Thursday against Edmonton in Downie's absence.

Downie has recorded a single assist, but has zero goals to show for his efforts after five games in the 2015-16 season.
EDGE Analysis
Downie has played an average of 9:41 minutes on the fourth-line this year with counterparts Jordan Martinook and Boyd Gordon. They have recorded a total of one goal this season, but most of Downie's fantasy value has come from his 18 penalty minutes, which puts him at sixth in the league for total penalty minutes.

Downie agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the Coyotes on Wednesday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. Downie showcased an ability to pitch in as a depth scorer (14 goals, 28 points in 72 games) and ruffle the feathers of the opposition (a league-leading 238 PIM) last season with Pittsburgh, attributes that should earn him increased ice time in the desert. The Coyotes don't have much depth to speak of at either of the wing spots, which could potentially result in Downie settling into a second- or third-line role.

Downie (upper body) says he will be ready to play Friday against the Islanders, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Downie missed the past two games with the injury, but with the Penguins needing all hands on deck in order to secure one of the available playoff spots, it looks like he'll be able to enter the lineup even if it's at less than optimal health. With 14 goals and 28 points over 70 games, Downie has delivered some useful offensive numbers from his bottom-six role, but it's his penchant for skirting the law that has made him a boon for fantasy owners. His 236 penalty minutes lead the league by a wide margin.

Downie (upper body) appears unlikely to play Tuesday against the Senators, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Downie didn't skate Tuesday morning, putting him on track to sit out a second straight contest. The Penguins haven't provided any word that a long-term absence is in store for Downie, so he can be viewed as day-to-day in advance of Friday's match against the Islanders.

Downie is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, and he will not play in Sunday's game against the Flyers. The day-to-day designation indicates Downie has a shot to return before the end of the regular season, and the Penguins still have quite a bit to play for in terms of seeding. His remaining chances to play will come Tuesday (at OTT), Friday (vs. NYI) and Saturday (at BUF).

Downie scored his third power-play goal of the season Saturday against the Coyotes. He was named the game's No. 2 star for his efforts. Downie's fight against Shane Doan gives him 228 PIM, but just seven in his last six contests. That kind of self control could win him additional playing time down the stretch -- though it remains to be seen whether he can keep his emotions in check.

Downie netted his 13th goal Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime loss against St. Louis. Pens Coach Mike Johnston singled out Downie's strong play following the game. The forward recently promised to temper his emotions and has now taken just one minor penalty in his last four contests.

Downie (undisclosed) is expected to play in Saturday's game against the Coyotes, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Downie suffered a hard collision in Thursday's game against the Stars and his availability for Saturday's game has been in question ever since. However, it appears he'll take the ice for the eighth-straight time Saturday.

Downie (undisclosed) could be unavailable Saturday against the Coyotes, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Downie was limited to just 10:38 of playing time Thursday against the Stars, after he fell hard to the ice following a hit. Given the winger's lengthy concussion history, there appears to be some concern that he may have sustained another head injury. Even if Downie avoided such a setback, his status won't likely be revealed until pregame warmups Saturday, as the Penguins didn't hold a morning skate session.
