Injury: No sign of Shea Weber (face) at the Predators morning skate... dailyfaceoff.com Sat 11/30/13 2:56 PM
Weber took a puck in the face on Thursday and did not return to the game. The injury was near his eye which is always a scary scene, especially when it is your team's best player. He has been listed as day-to-day by the Predators so he is not expected to be out long-term at this point. Seth Jones will likely slide onto the top-pair with Roman Josi while Weber is sidelined.
Injury: Weber (face) is day-to-day. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 11/29/13 7:56 PM
Weber was hit close to his eye in Thursday's loss to the Oilers. The Predators are going to wait unti Saturday before they decide if he can play. It was a scary looking incident so it is good that he is labeled as just day-to-day.
DAILY PRIME - NOVEMBER 29, 2013: BRYZGALOV IS BACK, ANDERSON STRUGG... primepucks.com Fri 11/29/13 7:52 AM
Quiet night yesterday in the NHL as there were only two games played. A lot of players have gone down with injuries as Nashville defenseman Shea Weber left last night's game with a UBI. He got hit with the puck in his face. Not sure how long he might be out, but it should not be too long. Toronto forward Joffrey Lupul is out with a groin strain, while promising young Calgary forward Sean Monahan will be out a while with a hairline fracture in his foot. We are very high on Monahan's potential. The big news yesterday was the return of Oilers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov with a shutout for Edmonton against the admittedly offensively challenged Nashville Predators. I will Have a Romie Hits The Post piece later today on Bryzgalov and how we view him. I don't know about you all, but I have no interest in shopping today, and I intend to stay home and watch the Rangers/Bruins game, and hopefully come up with some good insights, especially about the Rangers trouble with scoring goals.
Anderson shoots the pooch: Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson is having just a brutal season. His record is 6-8-2, but his metrics are just terrible at 3.51 goals against and a .894 save percentage. Last night he gave up 4 goals on only 15 shots before being replaced by Robin Lehner. You have to consider Lehner as the Senators' starting goalie at this point as his save percentage at 2.38 is more than a goal per game less than Anderson. Hard to understand what is happening to Anderson, as last year, for example, he went 12-9-2 with a 1.69 goals against and a .941 save percentage. Right now he can't stop a basketball. The Sedin twins each had 2 points for Vancouver, and they continue to be point per game players. Nice game for Roberto Luongo in goal for Vancouver with the win and 33 saves.
Bryzgalov arrives: Well he came back from obscurity with a big bang as he shutout the Predators with 33 saves. Edmonton may be the right place for him with all their good young talent, and a small market media. He clearly was out of his element in the media crazy city of Philadelphia. We shall see, but Devan Dubnyk's future in Edmonton is very much in doubt now. Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall each had a goal and an assist last night for the Oilers. While we are high on Eberle, Hall has 19 points in 19 games played, and we view him as a future superstar. Nashville's young goaltender Marek Mazanec took the loss, but he played well allowing only 2 goals on 27 shots. His 2.02 goals against and ...

SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE - 10/20/2013 primepucks.com Sun 10/20/13 10:04 AM
Morning!
Not a good week for defensemen in the NHL as quite a few well-known and prominent d-men went down from being hit from behind; Dan Boyle, Niklas Kronwall and Lubomir Visnovsky. I thought this hybrid icing was supposed to prevent all this?
Nothing like playing against the Rangers to bring out the best in the Devils, who finally got their first win last night.
Okay, so each team now has a win and regulation loss except the San Jose Sharks.
You just might have seen this year's Stanley Cup matchup when Vancouver played Pittsburgh Saturday afternoon.
I think it's safe to say that Sidney Crosby is heating up as he has averaged 3 points per game over the last 4 games.
RNH is definitely having a bounce back season. He may have more points already than he did all of last year. It just seems like it, doesn't it?
Let's hope that Taylor Hall's knee injury isn't that serious.
I like that they sent a message to Nail Yakupov by sitting him a few games.
You just have to love that Colorado Avalanche team and the way Head Coach Patrick Roy has them playing. He has practically raised G Semyon Varlamov from the dead.
Every once in a while Ryan Miller throws in a stinker of a game just like every goaltender, but for the most part this season, he has played fairly well. Too bad the Sabres can't score.
This year's #1 overall draft selection C Nathan MacKinnon is off to a fine star with 7 points in his first 8 games.
No surprise that both goals for the Nashville Predators last night came from the sticks of defensemen Shea Weber and Seth Jones. Get used to that.
Brendan Gallagher is not letting the sophomore jinx play in his head as he took 9 SOG and scored the lone goal in Montreal's loss to the Preds.
T-Rask showed Ben Bishop who's the boss as he blanked the Bolts last night. The B's finally offered some support by scoring 5 goals in that contest.
I think Minnesota is glad to be done with visiting the Sunshine State teams now that they have lost both games there.
Kyle Okposo just may have that breakout year that everyone has been waiting for.
So far, and we're not even 10 games into the season, but Carolina is playing a lot better than I had thought they would.
Caps Goalie Braden Holtby is starting to round into form after a shaky start to the season.
I believe Chicago is really serious about winning back-to-back Stanley Cups. And they can do it.
The Sharks have scored 39 goals so far. The next team is Toronto with 30. Philly and the Rangers have scored the least ...
DAILY PRIME - AUGUST 21, 2013: CENTRAL DIVISION- OVERRATED, UNDERRATED primepucks.com Wed 8/21/13 8:52 AM
Chicago Blackhawks:
Overrated: Brent Seabrook
One 40+ point season in his 8-year career. Will most likely lose top power-play time to Nick Leddy.
Underrated: Patrick Sharp
Prior to injury-plagued 2012/13 campaign, scored 67 goals in two seasons. Consistent scoring threat.
Colorado Avalanche:
Overrated: Erik Johnson
Still waiting for the former overall no.1 pick to live up to his potential. Huge fantasy bust.
Underrated: P.A. Parenteau
His 43 points in 48 games proved he doesn't need John Tavares. Borderline point-per-game producer.
Dallas Stars:
Overrated: Alex Goligoski
Don't get me wrong. Should be a lock for 40, but this d-man is not consistent enough to warrant fantasy elite status.
Underrated: Jamie Benn
Move to wing and chance to play with Tyler Seguin could result in breakout season.
Minnesota Wild:
Overrated: Dany Heatley
No longer the sure-fire 40-50 goal scorer, but has settled in as a decent secondary threat. Parise is clearly the Wild's best LW.
Underrated: Mikko Koivu
Not an elite point-producer, but could flourish while playing with Parise in Year 2. 70-75 point upside if he stays healthy.
Nashville:
Overrated: None
With the exception of Pekka Rinne and Shea Weber, there shouldn't be any other high-rated fantasy options in Nashville.
Underrated: Shea Weber
The Predators have a tough time scoring, but don't let that fool you. Finished strong last season with 27 points in last 35 games. Absolutely, an elite fantasy option on defense.
St. Louis:
Overrated: Derek Roy
Has not been the same since coming back from a torn quadricep surgery in 2010. No longer a point-per-game scoring threat.
Underrated: Alex Pietrangelo
His 24 points last season is not a true reflection of his fantasy worth. The addition of defensive Jay Bouwmeester should allow the highly talented blueliner to have the "green light" on the scoring end. Could surpass his career-high of 51 points in 13/14.
Winnipeg:
Overrated: Olli Jokinen
The 34-year old has lost his elite scoring touch, but needs to provide a physical presence for this young, but talented Jets squad.
Underrated: Zach Bogosian
The skilled defenseman is one Byfuglien or Enstrom injury away from becoming very fantasy relevant. Watch him.
DAILY PRIME - SEPTEMBER 2 - The Wild give Spurgeon a shot. primepucks.com Sun 9/2/12 3:13 PM
Yesterday the Minnesota Wild head coach, Mike Yeo, announced that he will start training camp with Jared Spurgeon paired with Ryan Suter on the first defensive pairing. The 22 year old did manage to score 23 points last year in 70 games for the Wild. Spurgeon is generously listed at 5'9" and 180 pounds, although we hear he is not quite that big. So he is somewhat small, and does not play much of a physical game, as evidenced by his 6 penaty minutes all last year. Still this is a great chance for him, and he could get 30 points this season if he can stay paired with Suter. It will be interesting to see Suter's production now that he will not be playing with Shea Weber.

DAILY PRIME- JULY 19 primepucks.com Thu 7/19/12 8:21 AM
IN THE SLOT
BREAKING NEWS: Shea Weber has signed a 14-year offer sheet with the Philadelphia Flyers. The contract is believed to be worth upward to $100 million. Nashville has seven days to match the offer or accept draft picks as compensation. Huge fantasy implications involved here. Read PRIME VIEWS later for further fantasy hockey analysis on this breaking story.
Suspension: Per the NHL, Weber fined $2,500. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 4/12/12 7:56 PM
No suspension for Weber in what some might argue is a light penalty for his "WWE-like" move at the end of Game 1.
