Gagner was placed on waivers and designated for assignment Monday, the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
In somewhat of a surprise move, Vancouver opted to put the 29-year-old, former sixth overall selection on waivers ahead of Wednesday's regular-season opener. Gagner disappointed in his first year with the Canucks a season ago and as a result, finds himself bound for the minors if another team doesn't claim him. He figures to be one of Vancouver's first call-ups if injury strikes.

Gagner collected 21 assists and scored 10 goals in 74 games during the 2017-18 season, while skating in the top six and averaging 15:06 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
Although Gagner wasn't able to come close to his 50-point outburst with Columbus last season, he continued to prove he's reliable to produce around the .5 points-per-game clip. The 28-year-old also rifled off 164 shots on goal which was third most among Vancouver forwards, and was a steady contributor on the first power-play averaging 2:01 per game, which accounted for 11 of his 31 points. Gagner will return to Vancouver on the second of his three year deal, and should once again slot into the top six with the retirements of Daniel and Henrik Sedin.

Gagner (ankle) has been cleared to play in Friday's road game against the Golden Knights.
EDGE Analysis
Gagner may be a bit rusty given that he's missed the past seven games, but we see no reason why he wouldn't reprise his power-play role right away. Vancouver ranks seventh in the league in terms of converting man-advantage changes (21.5 percent) which only adds to the intrigue of deploying Gagner in various fantasy formats.

Gagner (ankle) will not return to the lineup for Tuesday evening's contest against the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
Gagner will miss a seventh consecutive game after spraining his ankle on Feb. 6, but his return appears to be imminent now that he has returned to practice. Look for the 28-year-old to possibly make a return over the weekend, but until then, Nic Dowd will likely continue to maintain a place in the Canucks' lineup.

Gagner (ankle) was a full participant in Monday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
According to Ben Kuzma of The Vancouver Province, Gagner took turns skating on Vancouver's third line during the practice, splitting reps with Darren Archibald. Gagner stated that he felt well during the practice and is hoping for an imminent return, which would come Tuesday against Colorado. That being said, how Gagner looks and feels during Tuesday's morning skate will likely have the biggest impact on whether or not he's given the green light to face the Avs.

Gagner (ankle) looked nearly 100 percent while testing out his injured ankle prior to Saturday's morning skate, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gagner's presence on the ice ahead of Saturday's practice indicates he will miss at least the evening's contest, but his progress suggests he could be ready to rejoin practice at some point in the near future. Expect another update when that happens, likely as a precursor to him retaking the ice in game action.

Gagner (ankle) is showing on injured reserve, according to the NHL's official media site.
EDGE Analysis
This effectively rules Gagner out for the next three contests, and one can expect Brandon Sutter and Nic Dowd to round out the bottom six at the center position in his stead. This development does have fantasy implications since Gagner has posted seven goals and 15 assists -- including nine man-advantage points -- despite averaging only 14:49 of ice time through 52 games this season.

Gagner sustained a sprained ankle Tuesday night, and wasn't able to make it through Wednesday's practice, so he'll head back to Vancouver ahead of Thursday's road clash against the Lightning.
EDGE Analysis
Gagner returned from a concussion Tuesday, but now another ailment rears its ugly head. The 28-year-old pivot only ranks seventh among Canucks skaters with 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) through 52 games, though he's often deployed on the man advantage to keep him relevant in the fantasy realm. Since he didn't travel to Tampa, it's safe to assume that he won't be playing in the next contest, but it'll be worth checking back for official confirmation regardless.

Gagner (concussion) is expected to return to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Gagner missed Saturday's game against Tampa Bay due to a concussion, but he returned to practice Monday, which was the first indication he'd likely be available for Tuesday's contest. The 28-year-old pivot, who's notched seven goals and 22 points in 51 games this campaign, is expected to skate in a bottom-six role against Florida.

Gagner (concussion) is feeling better, according to Canucks coach Travis Green, but there's no real update on the pivot ahead of Saturday's home game against the Lightning,
EDGE Analysis
In other words, Gagner's effectively been ruled out for the upcoming contest. He must still be feeling the effects of a huge hit that he imposed on Blackhawks forward Tomas Jurco on Thursday. Look for the bottom-six pivot to be reevaluated ahead of Tuesday's road bout against the Panthers.
