Pulock had the secondary helper on Bo Horvat's goal in overtime. Playing in a second-pairing role, Pulock has been more of a factor in his own zone than on offense. He has two assists, eight shots on net, seven hits, 14 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating through seven appearances.

Pulock was held out due to illness for much of this week, but he'll be able to check in for the Islanders' last preseason game. The gritty defenseman is likely to see top-four minutes to begin the 2024-25 campaign, starting with Thursday's home opener versus Utah.

Even if he doesn't play in the Islanders' preseason finale against the Rangers on Friday, he stands a good chance of being ready for Opening Night versus Utah on Oct. 10.

During the regular season, Pulock saw action in just 58 games this year and came just one point shy of reaching the 20-point threshold for the third consecutive season.

Pulock logged a power-play assist, two shots on goal and three blocked shots in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Sharks.

Pulock has four points over his last five games. The defenseman assisted on an Anders Lee tally in the third period. Pulock continues to see steady top-four minutes and now has 12 points (three on the power play) with 60 shots on net, 102 blocked shots, 72 hits and a minus-2 rating over 38 appearances.

The 29-year-old blueliner would add another point in the second, setting up a Kyle MacLean tally. It's the first multi-point game of the year for Pulock, who had just one goal and two points in eight games since returning from IR. He's up to 10 points (four goals, six assists) with 91 blocked shots and 68 hits through 34 games this season.

This was Pulock's second game back from a lower-body injury that cost him nearly two months. The defenseman put the Islanders ahead 4-2 with his second-period tally, set up by Pierre Engvall. Pulock has a little more fantasy value when he's on the second power-play unit, but it doesn't add a whole lot to his stock. The 29-year-old is at seven points, 37 shots on net, 43 hits, 70 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 27 appearances in a top-four role this season.

EDGE Analysis

Pulock appears to be on track to return from a 24-game absence Monday against Toronto. He has generated six points, 34 shots on goal, 66 blocked shots and 37 hits across 25 appearances this campaign. With Pulock poised to play, Samuel Bolduc could be scratched for Monday's contest.

EDGE Analysis

Pulock has already missed 10 games since suffering the injury Dec. 7 and has yet to resume skating. The blueliner had two goals and six points with a minus-6 rating in 25 games this season. Alexander Romanov should continue to see top-pairing usage while Pulock is sidelined.

At this point, Pulock should probably be expected to remain on the shelf until after the Christmas break.
