He has two goals in four games for the AHL Barons including a highlight reel goal this past weekend as the Barons beat the Iowa Stars. He went down with a good attitude, didn't sulk, played lots of minutes, and now he's back.

Waiver Move: The Edmonton Oilers have waived Ryan Jones. dailyfaceoff.com Wed 9/25/13 2:56 PM

Jones missed 21 games with an eye injury last year and then signed a $1.5 million US contract this offseason. He could be claimed by someone looking for a gritty forward, but he is not fantasy relevant.

DAILY PRIME TODAY: JAGR SIGNS WITH THE DEVILS; SAY GOODBYE TO MARC-... primepucks.com Mon 7/22/13 10:37 AM

JAROMIR JAGR JUST SIGNED A ONE YEAR DEAL WITH THE DEVILS Jaromir Jagr is clearly not ready to retire from the NHL as he signed a one year contract today with the New Jersey Devils. Rumors have it that it was in the vicinity of $4 million.  With the departure of Ilya Kovalchuk, Devils General Manager, Lou Lamoriellio was anxious to have some forward talent to help replace him on the wings.  At 41 years old, Jagr is clearly not the same player who scored 149 points for Pittsburgh in 1995-1996.  But he did score 35 points in 45 games last year, split between Dallas and Boston.  He played well in the playoffs, although he had no goals in 22 games.  He is having a hard time finishing off plays at his age.  He could possibly score 50-55 points this year, but be aware that his skills are deteriorating.  Interesting that the Bruins let him go so easily. GAGNER GETS $14 MILLION/3-YEAR DEAL AT THE LAST MINUTE The Edmonton Oilers announced this morning that they have come to an agreement with center Sam Gagner, who was about to go to arbitration this morning. Gagner was given a 3 year/$14 million contract.  Both players and management are reluctant to go to arbitration because of the uncertainty of the outcome.  Gagner is getting a little less than he wanted, but he now has a bit more job security with the long-term deal.  His fantasy value is still that of a later round draft pick, who has upside if he dedicates himself to the game. M.A. BERGERON SIGNS WITH THE SWISS LEAGUE Check out this interesting read on Bergeron from our archives, written after his torrid start with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2011-12. Yes, we had warned you to sell high on quite possibly the most overhyped defensive fantasy asset in recent years. For all his perennial hype as a power-play specialist, defensive shortcomings and injury issues limited him to just three 30+ point seasons and just once over 40 in his 10-year career. Now, he has inked a three-year contract with the ZCS Lions of the Swiss League, which means we might have seen the last of Bergeron in the NHL. No huge loss for fantasy owners, as they will have one less overrated player to worry about while drafting their teams. EDMONTON CENTER SAM GAGNER WILL GO TO ARBITRATION TODAY Sam Gagner goes to arbitration today with the Edmonton Oilers. Gagner is reportedly asking for $5.5 million this year. After receiving $3.2 million last season, he is now looking for a huge pay raise. If he wins the arbitration, the Oilers will have no...
