The Nashville Predators have called up Ryan Ellis.
This move is probably in response to the fact that Shea Weber is questionable after leaving Monday's practice early. Ellis is about as appealing of a prospect as you can find from a fantasy perspective. He's a blueliner with a tremendous amount of offensive upside, as evidenced by the fact that he scored 24 goals and 101 points in 58 OHL games last season. Ellis has made a smooth transition from the junior level to the AHL this season, scoring four goals and 17 points in 26 games. Although Weber's status remains vague, we doubt the Predators would have called up Ellis unless they intended to allow him to make his NHL debut on Monday.

Ryan Ellis has been sent down to AHL Milwaukee.
Ellis has a tremendous amount of offensive potential, but he faced an uphill battle to make the team out of training camp. He's worth keeping a close eye on after recording 24 goals and 101 points in 58 OHL games last season.

Ryan Ellis is competing with three other defensemen for three spots on the Predators' blueline.
The talented rookie is in a battle with Teemu Laakso, Jack Hillen and Mattias Ekholm. We expect Ellis to emerge with a position in Nashville to start the season. If we turn out to be correct, don't hesitate to draft him if you are in a keeper league. His offensive potential as a defenseman is off the charts.

Ryan Ellis took a step towards making the Nashville Predators' opening game roster with a strong rookie camp.
"He can control a game and the pace," Milwaukee Admirals Coach Kirk Muller said. Ellis also had two assists. The Predators have multiple defensive slots open going into training camp, but they'll be fierce competition for them. Ellis is worth holding onto in keeper leagues due to his immense offensive potential.

Ryan Ellis will have a real shot to make the Predators out of camp this year.
Nashville's 2009 first-round pick has won everything he could in juniors, and was one of the biggest point producing defenseman in Canadian Hockey League history. With Cody Franson and Shane O'Brien gone, and Francis Bouillon (concussion) out for an unknown time, Ellis could have a shot to make the Predators. This is a situation we will monitor for you as Ellis could be worth a late-round flier if he cracks the lineup.
