It's taken a few years for Ellis to display the same scoring prowess he showed back in junior with OHL Windsor, but he's really showing that he belongs among the elite offensive blueliners in the NHL right now. He should be in your fantasy lineups whenever the Preds take to the ice.

Ellis also offers solid production in the peripheral categories with 49 shots, 35 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating.

Ellis recorded his fourth consecutive pointless game Saturday against the Rangers, but saw ice time of 23:04 including a season-high 5:33 on the power play.

EDGE Analysis

Ellis now has just five points in 12 games since returning from knee surgery that caused him to miss the first half of the season. He's still seeing a ton of ice time, skating on the first defensive pairing opposite Roman Josi, but he' still not producing quite in line with what you'd expect for a top defender. Keep him on your fantasy bench until he starts to show a little more consistency, scoring-wise.

Ellis is back to his normal role on the top defensive pairing and first power-play unit, so be sure to scoop him up if he still happens to be available.

Ellis was eased into the mix, as he recorded around five fewer minutes against his average playing time from last season. The Predators were shut out in his first outing of the 2017-18 campaign, but Ellis should be fine once he gets his legs back. The Canadian defenseman recorded 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists) and 137 blocked shots through 72 contests last season, plus his fine-two way play helped Nashville advance to the 2017 Western Conference finals.
