Goalie Start: Luongo starts for the Panthers. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 3/27/14 2:56 PM

Luongo made 37 saves on 39 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Senators on Tuesday. Bobby Lu made 20 saves in a scoreless first period and then held down the fort as the Panthers came back from down 2-0 to win. Tonight, he faces a Hurricanes team who looked awful on Tuesday vs. the Islanders.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 3/27/2014 primepucks.com Thu 3/27/14 11:11 AM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT The Boston Bruins will look to avenge their 3-2 shootout loss on January 19th along with losing last year's Stanley Cup to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at TD Garden. In what could possibly be a prelude to another Stanley Cup Finals match, this should bring all the intensity of a close rivalry.  Carey Crawford (LIKELY) will face Tuukka Rask, this time the B's finally get it done....Thomas Greiss will get the call again for Phoenix as the Coyotes try to build on their victory over the Penguins on Tuesday night. Martin Brodeur will look to keep New Jersey's playoff hopes alive, although he has lost 3 straight. Expect the Devils to bring it tonight against the NHL's least used backup in Greiss.  Don't let that fool you.  Greiss is a good goalie, and he plays in the Tippett system.  You know what that does to a goalie's performance?  Just ask Bryzgalov....Another potential Stanley Cup Finals matchup tonight in Pittsburgh as the Penguins host the Los Angeles Kings.  In a  battle ofthe backups, Jeff Zatkoff looks to end the Pens two-game losing streak but has tough competition with Martin Jones (LIKELY) in net for the Kings.  The Pens have been hit hard with injuries but still lead the Metropolitan Division and basically have it sewn up while LA is looking to shore up their position.  Should be a doozy....Detroit is fighting for their playoff lives and will face a streaking Montreal team that has won 3 in a row.  Jimmy Howard will get the call for the Red Wings as Carey Price will defend the net for the Habs.  Price is coming off a 2-0 blanking of the Sabres and is rounding into shape following his recent LBI.  Look for the Canadiens to clip the Wings tonight....In a game with no playoff implications but teams building for next season, Anton Khudobin will be in the crease for the Carolina Hurricanes as they head to Florida to take on Roberto Luongo and the Panthers.  This could be a good game fantasy-wise with lots of goals.....Don't look now but the John Tavares-less New York Islanders have won 2 in a row and look to make it 3 against Ben Bishop and the Tampa Bay Lightning.  I don't think so as the Bolts look to halt a 2-game skid and gain ground in a t least solidifying home ice advantage for the first round.  Evgeni Nabokov has been sharing the net lately with Anders Nilssonbut gets the call tonight.....Ryan Miller will look to backstop the NHL leading St. Louis blues to their 50th win ...

DAILY PRIME - MARCH 25, 2014: STILL ABOUT NYQUIST primepucks.com Wed 3/26/14 5:51 AM

Good morning, folks. I will be starting today's writing festivities only to be relieved by Mike, alias "Romer", very shortly. I figured that since my last DP title focused on the emergence of an up-and-coming fantasy star in the NHL, Gustav Nyquist, I would give him another "shout-out" since he doesn't know how to slow down. Two more goals for the budding center in Detroit's 4-2 defeat to Columbus, giving him 25 tallies in just 47 games. He looks to be the real deal for the remainder of the season and beyond. Don't be shocked if Nyquist delivers a huge 75+ point breakout season in '14-15. He is on the verge of greatness.. Our two "mad-hatters" of the evening were David Backes and Joe Pavelski, who each delivered "hat tricks" for their respective clubs. Backes has absolutely more fantasy value in multi-category leagues, while Pavelski has been a scoring machine with 37 goals and 71 points in 74 games. His time has arrived as an elite fantasy option in standard formats. The "Price Is Right" once again, as All-Star goalie Carey Price returned to action for Montreal in triumphant fashion by blanking the Buffalo Sabres. Get him in your lineup ASAP, as he will be looking to sharpen his skills prior to the Hab's playoff run. After not collecting a point for 8 straight games, Columbus defender James Wisniewski spear-headed the offense with three assists. With 42 points in 65 games, the "Wiz" has been fantasy gold for his owners this season. Keep your eye on Washington rookie Evgeni Kuznetsov who continues to impress with a clutch goal (his first NHL goal) for Washington in the waning moments of regulation against Los Angeles. If Niklas Backstrom misses some time, left the game with an upper body injury, the youngster might be in store for a more expanded offensive role for the remainder of the season. For those in need of defensive help, Toronto's Jake Gardiner has come alive in recent weeks. Another goal and an assist last night giving him 8 points in the last 10 games. Romer takes over. Phoenix right wing Shane Doan is not yet done at 37 years old as he had 2 assists last night and now has 43 points on the season with 20 goals. Not terrible, plus he has 4 points in his last 5 games. It was "Ovie" time for Washington as Alexander Ovechkin had 2 goals and an assist last night but the Capitals still lost to LA. Dustin Brown had a big night for the Kings with a goal and an assist, but please, he only has 25 points on the year. Right wing Colin McDonald had 2 ...

Luongo stopped 20 of 22 shots in a loss to the Coyotes on Thursday. Bobby Lu has stopped 72 of 76 (.947 SV%) shots in the first two games of this current West Coast road-trip. He will take on the 39-25-6 Kings this afternoon.

Goalie Start: Luongo gets the start against the Coyotes. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 3/20/14 7:56 PM

Luongo stopped 52 of 54 shots in a win over the Sharks on Tuesday. What a display of goaltending from the former Canuck. The last time he was in Phoenix, he was slated to start, but was traded to Florida prior to puck-drop. There is no chance that happens tonight as he gets set to face the Coyotes. Lu is 3-2-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .928 SV% with the Panthers.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 3/20/2014 primepucks.com Thu 3/20/14 1:37 PM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT Coming off a 6-0 blanking of the New York Islanders, Ilya Bryzgalov gets his second start in a row for the Minnesota Wild as he takes on the New Jersey Devils. Cory Schneider gets a turn in net for the Devils who are in desperate need of a win. Schneider looks to get both his team and his personal performance back on the winning track...Tim Thomas (LIKELY) goes for the Dallas Stars against a Philadelphia Flyers' team that has been surging up in the standings ever since their start of the season slump. Steve Mason draws back in net after Ray Emery Gave Mason a rest against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. The Flyers are soaring whereas the shine has been lost from the Stars who have lost 3 in a row.   Flyers should continue to roll...The Montreal Canadiens and Carey Price are coming off a big win against the Colorado Avalanche and look to make it 4 in a row tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Sergei Bobrovsky will look to keep the Jackets in playoff position as they are holding onto the 8th spot, tied with Washington in points and Detroit a point behind. Bobber is 3-2-1 in past 6 but Price is rounding into form.  Hot Habs should pull this one out...Robin Lehner got lit up against the New York Rangers for 8 goals in his last start and now will face a surging Tampa Bay Lightning team that has Steven Stamkos back in full swing. The Sens are truly missing Craig Anderson in net as Lehner has lost 3 in a row in his place.  Ben Bishop (LIKELY) will go for the seventh straight game even after starting last night's game. Bolts might be too much for a fragile Lehner....Marc-Andre Fleury gets back in the crease for the Pittsburgh Penguins in tonight's tilt against the Detroit Red Wings after Jeff Zatkoff started the past 2. Jimmy Howard draws in for the Wings who are looking to leapfrog into a playoff spot with a win tonight. Without their superstars in the lineup, Howard needs to come up huge tonight. Tough task as Fleury will look to get back on track after sitting...Matthew Hackett gets his first start of the season tonight as Buffalo heads into Edmonton to face Ben Scrivens and the Oilers. The Oilers seem to have solidified their goaltending with the arrival of Scrivens and Viktor Fasth.  The Oil should beat a spiraling Sabres team that has lost 7 in a row....Roberto Luongo (LIKELY) and the Florida Panthers are coming off a spectacular game against San Jose and looks to keep it going...

Goalie Start: Luongo starts in goal for the Panthers. dailyfaceoff.com Tue 3/18/14 7:56 PM

Luongo allowed three goals on 32 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss to his old team on Sunday. Lu was able to beat Cory Schneider on Friday, but he couldn't complete the sweep of his former crease-mates. Tonight, he gets the call vs. the Sharks and the scorching hot Antti Niemi. It is an ugly road matchup and on a night with 23 other goalies in action, I would take a peak at your other options.

Goalie Start: Luongo gets the nod vs. the Canucks. dailyfaceoff.com Sun 3/16/14 2:56 PM

Luongo allowed three goals on 31 shots in a 5-3 win over Cory Schneider and the Devils on Friday. Today, will be a huge game for Bobby Lu as he goes up against a Canucks team who traded him just 12 days ago. He is 2-2-0 with a 2.53 GAA and .919 SV% since the trade.
