Torres had "a procedure" on his often injured knee and it's not clear if he'll be healthy when his suspension is over, reports Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area.
EDGE Analysis
Between his knee and suspensions, Torres has only played 44 regular season games since the start of the 2012-13 season. What little fantasy relevance he may have had at one point has evaporated. It's just not clear that he'll be able to bounce back into NHL shape physically. You'll want to see him prove it before you ever consider rostering him.

Coach Peter DeBoer said Thursday that Torres is likely to rejoin the team when his suspension is up on January 14, reports CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz.
EDGE Analysis
There was little question of the team would allow him to play after he'd served his suspension. But the wrinkle here is the revelation that he's still having issues with his surgically repaired knee. DeBoer said, "He has good days and bad days. He's still dealing a little bit with his injury from before. I think that's probably the best way I can put it."

Torres won't appeal his 41-game suspension, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Considering Torres' history of violent and illegal hits, it's not a surprise that he was levied the long-term suspension. The fact that he didn't appeal now just confirms that he will sit for half the season, and won't be eligible to return to action until Jan. 14 against the Oilers.

The NHL announced Tuesday that it has suspended Torres for 41 games for his illegal check to the head of Anaheim's Jakob Silfverberg.
EDGE Analysis
Torres has frequently been disciplined for illegal hits throughout his NHL career, so Monday's ruling doesn't come as a huge surprise. The 33-year-old winger may appeal the suspension, but if it stands, he won't be eligible to return to action until the Sharks' Jan. 14 matchup with the Oilers.

The Department of Player Safety announced that Torres will have a hearing on Monday for an illegal check to the head of Anaheim's Jakob Silfverberg.
EDGE Analysis
The DoPS also announced that Torres waived his right to an in-person hearing. The Department offers an in-person hearing only when a suspension may be in excess of five games. Torres could miss significant time to start the season.

Torres has been suspended one game for his hit on Jakob Silfverberg pending his discipline hearing, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The length of Torres' suspension remains a bit unclear, but it should all sort itself out before the beginning of the season. Considering his history of hits that resulted in suspensions, it's possible the most recent will be rather lengthy.

Torres drew a penalty in Saturday's preseason game after hitting the Ducks' Jakob Silfverberg in the head, according to Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times.
EDGE Analysis
It was the type of hit that generates some form of discipline. Torres was given a 10-minute misconduct and ejected from the game.

Torres played his first game on Friday after missing the entire 2015 season with an ACL injury. Torres said that he "felt alright" for most of the exhibition, according to CSN's Kevin Kurz.
EDGE Analysis
Torres laid a big hit on the Coyotes' Nicklas Grossman early in the game. Torres said, following that hit, that he "didn't feel too fast or too much part of the game." So, he has a little work to do getting back to game speed and feeling the pace. It may be wise for owners to steer clear until he looks 100%.

Torres will make his preseason debut in Friday's matchup with the Coyotes, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Torres is coming off of right knee surgery that he underwent in February, so it's a positive sign that he'll get a chance to shake off some rust in Friday's preseason contest. He is expected to slot into a fourth line role with the Sharks this season, where he'll focus on agitating opponents and chipping in offensively on occasion.

Torres spilled into the boards in practice Thursday, but appears to have avoided injury, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Torres has been riddled with injuries throughout his career, having had three surgeries to repair the ACL in his right knee. He plays with a mean streak, which could translate into modest PIM totals this season, provided he can finally stay healthy and avoid suspensions.
