Hughes agreed to terms on a six-year, $47.1 million contract with Vancouver on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Hughes got twice the terms and slightly more AAV than teammate Ellias Pettersson who inked a three-year, $22.05 million deal Friday as well. Over the past two seasons, Hughes has racked up 94 points in 124 games (fourth best in the NHL). The blueliner will have a little over a week to get up to speed after missing the start of training camp but that shouldn't be an issue for the 21-year-old. Heading into the 2021-22 campaign, Hughes should continue to be an elite fantasy target in all formats.

Both Hughes and Elias Pettersson (wrist) remain without new deals following the expiration of their entry-level contracts. There is plenty of time for the two sides to come to an agreement, but fantasy players should probably expect Hughes to miss at least the first two preseason contests, if not more. Even without a full training camp to prepare for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign, Hughes should still be considered an elite fantasy target and should challenge to get back over the 50-point mark.
