The Predators recalled Tomasino from AHL Chicago and placed him on the taxi squad Thursday.

Tomasino is just 19 years old and isn't expected to have a role with the big club this campaign, but he'll gain some invaluable experience practicing with Nashville's NHL roster during his time on the taxi squad. The 2019 first-round pick racked up 40 goals and 60 assists in 62 OHL contests last season.

The Predators have loaned Tomasino to Team Canada for its 2021 World Junior Championship selection camp.

Tomasino spent the 2019-20 season with the Niagara Ice Dogs and Oshawa Generals, totaling 100 points in 62 games split between the two teams. If he makes Team Canada's roster, the 24th overall pick from the 2019 draft will almost certainly be reassigned to Oshawa following the conclusion of the World Junior Championship tournament.

Making his debut for OHL Oshawa, Tomasino posted two goals and three assists in a 6-3 win over Windsor on Wednesday.

Tomasino was traded from Niagara to Oshawa just a day earlier. A first-round selection of Nashville (24th overall) in 2019, Tomasino is currently third in OHL scoring with 62 points in just 37 games. He signed his entry-level deal with the Predators this past October.

Nashville selected Tomasino with the 24th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Still a year or two away from his NHL debut, the 18-year-old center has not allowed that to impact his level of play, as he's already collected 23 points in 12 games with the OHL's Niagara IceDogs this season. If he keeps up that pace of production, it won't be long before we see him in a Predators jersey.
