Peter Budaj was saddled with the loss Thursday night in Long Island against the Islanders. Budaj allowed four goals on 33 shots. Unless Price sustains a serious injury, Budaj won't have much fantasy value in 2011-12 as he is projected to start in just 10-20 games. Expectations in Montreal should be low for him. Carey Price will be back between the pipes Saturday night.

Peter Budaj made 25 saves on 26 shots in Montreal's 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators Saturday night. Peter Budaj held down the fort while Carey Price was given a rare night off. Budaj a former starter seems comfortable in his new role as backup in Montreal. Having a reliable backup option should relieve the pressure and workload placed on star Carey Price.

With Carey Price starting Friday, Peter Budaj is likely to start on Saturday. It is not like Price cannot go back-to-back games but Budaj is the likely starter here. For now there has been no word from the Canadiens, this is just pure speculation.

Peter Budaj allowed two goals on 31 shots in the Canadiens' 2-1 loss to the Panthers Monday night at the Bell Center in Montreal. Budaj got the start tonight as Carey Price needed a little rest and was solid in the lost. Budaj is a decent backup and a wonderful team guy. Unless Price sustains a serious injury, Budaj won't have much fantasy value in 2011-12 as he is projected to start in just 10-20 games. Expectations in Montreal should be low for him.

Look for Peter Budaj to get his first start of the season for the Montreal Canadiens sometime this week. Carey Price has started every game this year but might be due for a rest. Budaj could even start tomorrow's game against the Florida Panthers in Montreal. Stay tuned for an official confirmation but for those of you in daily transaction leagues, Budaj could be an interesting spot starter if he gets the nod Monday at home against the Panthers in what would be his first start as a Habs.

Peter Budaj has been shaky in exhibition play with two losses while posting a save percentage of .872 with a goals against average of 4.80. Budaj was lit up for seven Boston goals last Sunday in Halifax, then appeared shaky even on Thursday in a loss to Tampa Bay."Peter is an experienced goaltender," Price said of the six-season NHL veteran. "He's been in the league a long time and he knows what it's all about. It's still early in the year, it doesn't come back right away." You don't get to see NHL-calibre shots or NHL game speed all summer long. It's only a matter of time before (shooters) start hitting you." Unless Price sustains a serious injury, Budaj won't have much fantasy value in 2011-12 as he is projected to start in just 10-20 games. Expectations in Montreal should be low for him.

Peter Budaj has agreed to a two-year/$2.3 million contract with the Montreal Canadiens. Budaj will earn $1.1 million next season and $1.2 million in 2012-13. Budaj has a career 2.83 GAA and .901 save percentage and he was pretty bad in Colorado last season. He's not someone that Canadiens fans will want to serve as their starting goaltender if Carey Price suffers a significant injury.
