Dallas forced overtime with the tying mark with just 1:31 to go in the third period, but Datsyuk helped bail out the Wings and salvage a win. The 37-year-old had cooled off a bit of late, as he hadn't worked his way onto the scoresheet in four straight entering Monday, but he continues to have a strong campaign overall even in the later stages of his career.

Datsyuk scored Detroit's only goal Monday in a 4-1 loss to the Islanders.

The Magic Man's supernatural feats on the ice no longer catch us by surprise. After all, he reached the 900-point mark in his previous game against the Bruins and has been an absolute nightmare for opponents with an active six-game points streak, including two-point efforts in half of those appearances. Best of all, Datsyuk has been healthy since making his season debut Nov. 13, following offseason surgery to repair ruptured tendons in his right ankle. His late start to the season could have had him on the clearance rack at the start of the 2015-16 campaign but right now, he's playing as well as any skater at 37 years old.

Datsyuk scored twice -- both on the power play -- and added an assist in Sunday's win over the Bruins.

EDGE Analysis

The first goal was good for Datsyuk's 900th career point, as continued his torrid pace with nine points (five goals, four assists) in the last five games. At 37 years old, his scoring rate remains down from earlier in his career, but he's still enjoying a strong campaign with 33 points in 41 games.

Datsyuk directed seven shots on goal and got two of them -- one on a power play -- past Florida goalie Al Montoya in Monday night's 3-0 victory.

EDGE Analysis

Both tallies were just insurance, a Petr Mrazek spun a shutout for the Wings, but they're huge for Datsyuk, who hadn't found net in the last eight contests. Fortunately, he continued racking up assists even while the shots weren't finding twine. Even though his season point-scoring pace is still on the slow side by his standards, things look like they're trending up for The Magic Man, who's netted consecutive two-point games and seems primed for a strong run down the stretch.

Datsyuk earned a pair of assists in Saturday afternoon's 5-1 rout of the Islanders.

EDGE Analysis

The Magic Man grabbed the secondary apples on Detroit's second and third goals of the matinee, giving him 20 on the season. He may not have found twine (for the eighth game in a row), but Datsyuk is clipping along at a decent rate with 26 points in 36 games, so look for him to hit the scoresheet more often than not in the last two months of the season despite his steady decline.

Datsyuk snapped a rare two-game scoreless streak with the assist. Datsyuk has not gone without scoring for more than two games this season and sits at 24 points in 34 games. While his six goals and 7.8 shot percentage are a little disheartening for fantasy owners, the center is still producing at a high level, especially for a 37-year-old.

Datsyuk was phenomenal in Thursday night's overtime win over the Coyotes. He picked up a goal and an assist on the power play, followed by another helper on the game-winning score by defenseman Danny DeKeyser.

EDGE Analysis

The Magic Man is up to his old tricks with five points in the past two games. Better yet, a right ankle injury that required surgery in the offseason is a distant memory at this point. He's not scoring at his typical rate due to a career-low shooting percentage of 9.1, but that's splitting hairs as the Russian does have 21 points in 29 games.

The 37-year-old has tallied five assists in his last five games, but has had trouble finding the back of the net himself to the tune of a 8.1% shooting percentage, by far the lowest of his career.

Datsyuk dropped the puck into the net Tuesday against the Jets, but the power-play score wasn't nearly enough as the Red Wings lost, 4-1.

EDGE Analysis

Recall that Datsyuk didn't get to start his 2015-16 campaign until Nov. 13 because he needed the additional time to recover from offseason surgery to repair ruptured tendons in his right ankle. He had just two goals and an assist in nine games before switching to a higher gear in December. The Magic Man now has a point in four consecutive games and a total of five goals and nine helpers in 22 games on the season. One glaring area of improvement for the Russian is a shooting percentage of 9.6. Datsyuk has never finished a season below 11 percent.

Datsyuk grabbed Detroit's only goal in a 3-1 loss to Minnesota on Monday.

Datsyuk is on a roll, registering two goals and four assists in his last six outings. The veteran missed the opening 15 games on the season due to injury, but has put his name on the scoresheet with 13 points in just 21 contests.
