Injury: Parenteau will miss 4-6 weeks with a knee injury. dailyfaceoff.com Tue 3/11/14 2:56 PM
Parenteau injured his right knee on his first shift in the first period Monday against the Winnipeg Jets. Parenteau will likely miss the remainder of the regular season, but could return for the playoffs. Parenteau missed 10 games because of an MCL injury to his left knee earlier this season. He has 14 goals and 19 assists in 53 games. Head coach Patrick Roy said the Avalanche will call up forwards Paul Carey and Brad Malone from Lake Erie (AHL).
Line Change: Parenteau will be a healthy scratch tonight. dailyfaceoff.com Mon 1/27/14 2:56 PM
Alex Tanguay will draw back into the lineup after resting on Saturday. Parenteau has recorded two assists with a plus-2 rating since returning from his knee injury last Tuesday.
Injury: Parenteau (knee) will return to the Avalanche lineup tonight. dailyfaceoff.com Tue 1/21/14 2:56 PM
Parenteau missed 10 games with an MCL injury, but will return tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. He will be eased into the lineup and skate on the Avs fourth line with Patrick Bordeleau and Marc-Andre Cliche. On a busy Tuesday he should probably be left on the bench until his role is expanded.

Parenteau has missed the last nine games, but returning on Tuesday would be way ahead of schedule. He was not originally expected to be back until February, which likely meant after the Olympics. He could be avaialble on the waiver wire because he was expected to miss six weeks.

Parenteau's original timetable was six weeks, but it sounds like he is in-line to return sooner than that. It has already been over two weeks so there is a chance he could be back by early February.

Parenteau collided with Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba and went down awkwardly. He retired to the dressing room after playing 12:24 in 2-1 OT loss. It seems unlikely that he will play on Tuesday after it was reported that he left the arena on crutches.
DAILY PRIME - DECEMBER 18, 2013: JETS EK'D OUT A WIN, PROMISING D-M... primepucks.com Tue 12/17/13 8:13 AM
Evander Kane returned to the Winnipeg lineup in a big way. EK scored the eventual game-winner and added an assist. Before his injury, EK had just 7 goals and 7 assists in 26 games, not exactly the superstar stats the team was hoping for. But there is still plenty of season left and if there is any chance for you to grab EK from a disgruntled owner, make your pitch now, or forever hold your peace...
More Fantasy Game Notes: Even though the story should be about the Penguins winning and Sidney Crosby scoring another goal, ho-hum, the real story of the night was sensational rookie/prospect defenseman Morgan Rielly of Toronto scoring his first NHL goal last night against the Pens on the power play. With 10 points in 26 games, it's still a learning process for the youngster. You should be seeing more of that in the future, but this year is all about growing pains, but the reward at the end of the tunnel looks bright.....Speaking of bright young defensemen, Cody Ceci of the Ottawa Senators gave the team the much-needed two points last night against the visiting St. Louis Blues. Ceci made them blue alright when he scored his first NHL goal in overtime to give Robin Lehner the much-deserved win. Those in keeper/dynasty leagues will want to make sure you get Lehner and Ceci on your squads, with Lehner producing sooner than Ceci....If you are looking for goals and want to take a chance, Chris Stewart just may be the streaky, goal-scoring winger that you are looking for on the cheap. With 2 goals last night against the Sens, Stewart now has 4 goals in past 3 games. He is as streaky as they come....Paul Stastny had been quiet as a church mouse during Christmas holiday, not scoring for 9 straight games, but last night Mr. Stastny woke up from his slumber with a 2-goal, 2-assist effort against the Dallas Stars. Kari Lehtonen had a night to forget as he let in 6 goals on 48 shots. You would think with a 42-save effort that he had a good night, but it was goodnight alright in the 2nd period as the Avs broke the game open with 4 unanswered goals. Stastny makes for a good 6th forward on your fantasy team, but you may have to put up with his streakiness. Both Stastny and P.A. Parenteau may be good ‘buy-low' candidates but don't expect too much as both have 21 points in 32/30 games played respectively....Tyler Seguin followed up his 4-point effort with a goal and an assist against the Avalanche.

Ryan O'Reilly collected two goals and an assist in the 4-3 victory over Los Angeles, quickly asserting himself as a viable fantasy option, as he has been shifted to left wing on Colorado's top line during camp. Playing a regular shift with arguably the two most talented Avalanche forwards, Matt Duchene and P.A. Parenteau, will provide a decent spike to his numbers. On the rise.. Not a great debut for St. Louis goalie Jaroslav Halak, who stumbled in his first start by allowing 4 goals on 23 shots in the 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay. With Brian Elliott and even Jake Allen ready to pounce, Halak's standing as the Blue's no. 1 backstopper is tenuous at best. If you draft him, you might need to consider adding Elliott fairly early.. I don't love Tampa's new free agent addition Valtteri Filppula, but he should be locked in as the second-line center with Vincent Lecavalier out of town. The underachieving Swede dished out three assists last night, but he will require a healthy dose of power-play time to get close to the 60-pt. range in '13-14.
Training Camp Update: All signs points to Claude Giroux being available for Philadelphia's season opener, as the star center might be playing in Tuesday's preseason game.. Boston's Patrice Bergeron has received medical clearance to play in today's exhibition game. Can fantasy owners expect him to return to his 70+ point days? Only injuries could hold him back.. News from Toronto is that forward Nazem Kadri's x-rays on an apparent hand injury turned out negative. Expect him ready to go when the real games begin.. Is Leaf goalie Jonathan Bernier banged up? Despite stopping 10 of 11 shots on Thursday, he complained of an undisclosed injury. Coach Randy Carlyle is referring to it as a "knee irritation". Obviously, if anything happens to Bernier, James Reimer's fantasy value skyrockets. Just like that!
