Nikolay Zherdev registered two assists in HC Atlant Moscow Oblast's 5-2 victory over Dinamo Riga. Zherdev is in his second straight season with the KHL's Moscow Oblast Atlant. He has expressed a desire to return to the NHL at some point, but obviously there needs to be a new CBA before that's even a possibility.

Nikolay Zherdev plans to return to the NHL at some point. He was asked if he was upset that his career in the league was over and he responded by saying, "I will be back there. I am sure of that!" Zherdev signed with a KHL club last week after he didn't get any firm offers from NHL teams. Perhaps he will spend a year or two in Russia before coming back, but we will keep you up to date when something is decided.

The Winnipeg Jets might be interested in signing Nikolay Zherdev. Zherdev is open to signing with an NHL or KHL club. He played with the Philadelphia Flyers last season after spending the 2009-10 campaign in the KHL. Unfortunately, his return was less than ideal and he ended up with 16 goals and 22 points in 56 contests with the Flyers. That being said, he recorded 61 and 58 points in his last two years in the NHL before his one-year stint with Mytishchi Atlant, so he's still worth keeping an eye on.
