Nicklas Backstrom recorded three power-play assists in Tuesday's 6-2 victory over the New York Islanders. Backstrom has been on fire lately with three goals and seven points in his last three contests. That brings him up to five goals and 14 assists in 15 contests this season.

Nicklas Backstrom netted a goal for the Capitals in their 3-2 shootout win over the Panthers on Saturday night. After a 7-0 thrashing of the Flyers, Washington barely gets by a similarly-bad Panthers team. The most important thing, though, is that they have two straight wins with Alex Ovechkin sidelined. Backstrom now has three goals and four points in the last two games, picking up the slack with the captain out. John Carlson recorded the other goal. Eric Fehr, Karl Alzter, Michael Latta (also with seven penalty minutes) and Mike Green notched assists.

Nicklas Backstrom scored two goals and registered an assist in Washington's 7-0 win Friday night. Jason Chimera had a goal and three assists to give him 11 points in 13 games in 2013-14. Troy Brouwer found the back of the net with the man advantage at 18:20 of the second period. Mikhail Grabovski extended his point streak to five games with three assists. Martin Erat and Eric Fehr each assisted on two of Washington's seven goals.

Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 4-1 victory. Alex Ovechkin has been stealing the show in Washington with 10 goals in his first 10 games, but Backstrom is off to a great start too. Backstrom now has two goals and 12 points in 10 contests this season. He's a good bet to record at least a point-per-game this season and there's an outside chance he'll end up flirting with the 100-point mark for the second time in his career.

Nicklas Backstrom missed Tuesday's practice for the birth of his daughter. We want to offer our congratulations to Backstrom and his girlfriend, Liza Berg. The Washington Capitals aren't scheduled to play again until Thursday.

Niklas Backstrom notched two assists, both of them on the power play, in the Washington Capitals' 6-4 loss against Chicago. Backstrom's career pace amounts to just over a point-per-game, and he looked as sharp as his stats on Tuesday night. Backstrom found instant chemistry with new Capital Mikhail Grabovski, and gelled with Alex Ovechkin and Mike Green on the power play.

Backstrom is third in the NHL with 40 helpers and is tied for eighth in league scoring. Hopefully, you stayed with patient with him at the beginning of the year and you are being rewarded for it now.

Nicklas Backstrom took part in Saturday's morning skate. Just another indication that Backstrom is fine to play Saturday night. He left Thursday's game after his arm was struck by the puck, but the ailment doesn't appear to be serious.

Nicklas Backstrom is expected to play Saturday night against Montreal. He doesn't seem to be having any difficulties with his arm after blocking a shot in Thursday's contest. Keep the talented pivot active.
