With the Minnesota native on the shelf, Nicolas Hague and Jimmy Schuldt will compete for the final spot in the lineup on a nightly basis. Schmidt looked to be hurting badly when the trainer came out to help him during the first period of Wednesday's contest. Unfortunately, the early issue will prevent him from retaking the ice Wednesday and it could put his status for Friday's rematch with the Sharks in doubt. According to Greg Wyshynski of ESPN.com, it appeared Schmidt suffered a left knee injury, though the team should provide a better picture of his status either after the game or at some point in the next day or two.

Schmidt had four assists representing his point total over seven games in the series loss to the Sharks.

All of Schmidt's offensive production transpired between Games 2-4. With further consideration to the 30 points (nine goals, 21 assists) he produced in the regular season -- spanning 61 contests after he returned from a PED-related suspension -- the power-play defenseman should continue to be met with universal interest in fantasy leagues for the 2019-20 campaign.

Schmidt picked up two assists -- one on the power play -- and four blocked shots in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Sharks in Game 4.

Schmidt has contributed four assists and 12 blocked shots in the series. The defenseman recorded 30 points in 61 regular-season contests. He will be expected to do his due diligence in his own zone as a first-pairing blueliner, but he can also help in DFS formats while the points are rolling in.

Schmidt dished out an even-strength assist while logging 17:02 of ice time in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Sharks.

Schmidt was able to collect his second straight game with an assist, and now has two points in three playoff games. The 27-year-old has been an important part of Vegas' 2-1 series lead, racking up eight blocks and a plus-3 rating. Expect the Minnesota native to keep getting fantasy opportunities, as evidenced by his 19:26 of average ice time in the series.

Schmidt waited until near the end of the game to factor into the offense, setting up Jonathan Marchessault's empty-net goal and then Cody Eakin's power-play tally a minute later. Schmidt is up to 29 points (nine goals, 20 helpers) in 53 games in a campaign shortened by a suspension at the start. He averaged 22:08 per game entering the contest as a fixture on Vegas' top pairing.

Schmidt has three goals and three assists over his last eight appearances, as well as 24 blocked shots in that span. With 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists) in 49 games this season, there's a chance the blueliner challenges his career-high 36 points, set last season, if he can sustain this recent hot stretch.

Schmidt scored an empty-net goal and added a power-play assist in a 4-1 win over the Stars on Tuesday.

Schmidt also blocked four blocked shots and four shots on goal in the contest. Schmidt has 24 points in 44 games this year, while shooting a career-high 9.6 percent. Schmidt is a serviceable option on defense, although he doesn't generate many hits (only 25 this season).

Schmidt tallied his fifth goal of the season in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets.

Schmidt's goal was rather fluky, as he turned away from the net in an attempt to find a teammate in close, only for the puck to bounce off opposing forward Pierre Luc-Dubois and fall into the cage. Still, it all counts the same, and now the special-teams defenseman has tied his career-high mark in goals.
