Geekie scored two goals and an assist in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
The 21-year-old made an instant impact in his NHL debut, adding two shots, four blocked shots, a hit, two PIM and a plus-3 rating to his ledger while potting Carolina's first and last tallies of the afternoon. Geekie skated on the fourth line at even strength but saw time on both the power play and penalty kill, a good sign that he'll get an opportunity to carve out a significant role with the Canes and work his way up the depth chart.

EDGE Analysis
Geekie has racked up 42 points in 55 AHL games this season, so his promotion is long overdue. He'll join the Hurricanes following their compelling win over the Islanders, but it's not yet clear when Geekie will make his NHL debut.

Geekie leads the AHL Charlotte Checkers with four goals and eight points in six games.
EDGE Analysis
Geekie's best game of the season came Saturday against Syracuse, in which he scored a power-play goal and added two assists in a 7-3 win. Geekie was fifth in scoring for the Checkers last season, with 46 points (19G, 27A) and also added 18 points in 19 games during the playoffs to help the Checkers win the Calder Cup. The Canes have yet to call him up for a look with the big club, but needless to say if Geekie's strong start continues, it won't be long.

Geekie inked a three-year, entry-level contract with Carolina on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Geekie racked up 30-plus goals and 80-plus points in each of his previous two seasons with WHL Tri-City, but at 19 years of age, the team could opt to keep him in juniors for one more year before promoting him. Selected with the 67th overall pick of the 2017 NHL Draft, the center's offensive upside could earn him a spot on the 23-man roster at the start the 2018-19 campaign, then return him to the Americans before hitting the 10-game threshold. For fantasy owners in dynasty or keeper leagues, the Manitoba native may be worth picking up given his long-term outlook.
