The Wild are already without Zach Parise and Josh Harding for an unknown period of time. It will be a tough stretch for the Wild without their two top forwards and top goaltender. This also could hurt team Finland in the Olympics.
Injury: Koivu (foot) has been placed on injured reserve. dailyfaceoff.com Mon 1/6/14 2:56 PM
Koivu was injured in Saturday's game after taking a shot to the foot. He has arguably been the Wild's best forward this season, so this is a huge loss for a team already without Josh Harding, Jared Spurgeon and Zach Parise. He is being re-evaluated today when a detailed report is expected to be released. For now he will miss a minimum of seven days. Erik Haula has been recalled.
DAILY PRIME NOVEMBER 27, 2013: PARISE OUT WITH FOOT INJURY primepucks.com Wed 11/27/13 6:44 AM
Minnesota's star winger Zach Parise has been sidelined due to a left foot contusion for 2-3 weeks. A huge loss for the Wild and his fantasy owners, considering he has scored 11 goals and 22 points in 23 games. There will also be an adverse fantasy effect on Mikko Koivu and Jason Pominville, who might see a temporary reduction in points with Parise out of the lineup. Maybe taking a short-term flier on Charlie Coyle will be a smart move, since he will be relied on even heavier on the power-play. Considering the Wild might play it closer to the vest and keep the games tighter, Niklas Backstrom is still a strong fantasy play in the crease.
Rough Night For Hiller: With five goals allowed on 32 shots in Anaheim's 6-3 loss to Dallas, Jonas Hiller was the fantasy dud of the night. With Viktor Fasth injured, the Swiss goalie has an opportunity to distance himself from the rest of the goaltending competition. Do not breathe easy, Hiller owners, considering with any more crappy starts like this one, Frederik Andersen will be stealing time from him. Watch this situation.

DAILY PRIME - NOVEMBER 21, 2013: PENGUINS ROLL OVER CAPS primepucks.com Thu 11/21/13 5:30 AM
With Sidney Crosby considered by most as the best fantasy forward in the NHL, it's the dynamic duo of Evgeni Malkin and James Neal that makes this offense downright unstoppable. Neal scored a goal and an assist in the 4-0 shutout win of their arch-rivals Washington, while Malkin chipped in with two assists. Since returning from injury, Neal has rewarded his patient fantasy owners with 5 points in 6 games. He was well worth the wait as he been one of the premier left wingers in the game since being traded to Pittsburgh. In 120 career games with the Penguins, he has shown unbelievable chemistry with Malkin by recorded 61 goals and 117 points. As for the gifted Russian, with all the talk that he been struggling to score goals, he still has 22 points in 22 games. It's a foregone conclusion that the duo will light it up moving forward, so enjoy the ride if you own either of them.... Anymore questions on Marc-Andre Fleury's fantasy value during the regular season? Playoffs don't count for fantasy owners. With his 18-save shutout last night, his numbers now stand at 13-6, with a 1.90 GAA and .924 SP. Elite for sure.... With a goal and an assist, defenseman Paul Martin has chipped in with 9 points in 20 games. He plays a boat-load of minutes while getting his fair share of power-play time, so he does hold decent value as a No. 3-4 fantasy option on defense.
More Fantasy Game Notes: What's up with Mikko Koivu? Another scorching performance, consisting of the game-winning goal and two assists at Ottawa, gives him 20 points in 23 games. A slow start has been erased by his streaky play as of late, so make sure the Finn is starting in your lineups. He has been clicking with Zach Parise big-time.... With two more assists and 15 points in 17 games, Dustin Penner has been living up to the hype created with playing on Anaheim's top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Ride him while he is hot, but the talented winger will go cold in a hurry. It's just a matter of time..

DAILY PRIME - NOVEMBER 18, 2013: HOW 'QUICK'-LY WE FORGET primepucks.com Mon 11/18/13 8:13 AM
With another dominating performance in the 37-save shutout over the New York Rangers, Ben Scrivens has been "lights out" in the King's crease going 4-1-1 with a 1.24 GAA and .955 SP. If you hadn't already, it's time to pluck this guy off the waiver wire while he is the interim King's starting goalie in Jonathan Quick's long-term absence. Scrivens played well last season for Toronto when James Reimer was out, so he does have a positive track record, albeit a limited one. At the very least, if you own Quick, you should own Scrivens.
Patrick Very "Sharp": With two goals and an assist, including the game-winner against San Jose, Patrick Sharp remains on fire with 3G/6A over the last five games. We told you to "buy low" when he was struggling, but now he is well on a point-per-game pace the rest of the way with 20 points in 21 games. Legit 35+goal/75+pt. potential for the Chicago winger, so enjoy the ride if he is yours.
More Fantasy Game Notes: Mikko Koivu scored both goals for the Wild 2-1 win over Winnipeg, giving him 6 points in the last 5 games. The talented Finn is getting "hot", so make sure that he is starting.. Braden Holtby continues his ascent up the fantasy goalie rankings, as the Washington goalie stymied the Blue's offense with 46 saves. His overall numbers now stand at 10-6 with a .925 GAA... With Mike Green out to injury, John Carlson has elevated his offensive play with six points in the last five games. He played 4:35 minutes on the power-play night, second only to Alex Ovechkin. He is worth starting this week..

DAILY PRIME- OCTOBER 15, 2013: THREE CHEERS FOR POMMER! primepucks.com Tue 10/15/13 8:18 AM
Wild RW Jason Pominville celebrated his return to Buffalo by scoring the game-winning goal in the 2nd period, set up by some great passing from D Jared Spurgeon and C Mikko Koivu. Pominville's 2nd of the season couldn't have come against a better opponent, as Pommer once played for the Sabres for nearly 8 years before being traded at the trade deadline in last year's Lockout season. In 10 games with the Minnesota Wild, the talented Right Wing scored 9 points and high expectations were placed on him for this season, but in 6 games, only has 2 goals. Expect Pominville to regain that chemistry he had with Zach Parise, Koivu and company and return to normal scoring levels around the 65-70 point range.
Other Fantasy Game Notes: Detroit exacted their revenge for an earlier loss by clamping down on the Boston Bruins in a Columbus Day matinee. The only difference in this game was that Jonas Gustavsson started in place of the injured Jimmy Howard. Gustavsson shook off some early game jitters and played solid in net. Don't worry Howard owners, Howard suffered a slight hand injury in the previous game and the Red Wings were just giving him another day's rest since they are also playing again tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He may miss another game or two though. How come Columbus had the night off being that it was Columbus Day? ....The Washington Capitals capitalized on two power play opportunities in the 2nd period and controlled the game the rest of the way as Braden Holtby turned in another solid effort and was finally rewarded with a W. Nicklas Backstrom was the offensive star of the game as he assisted on all three 2nd period goals. With those points, Backstrom now sits 1 point behind league leaders, Sidney Crosby and team mate Alex Ovechkin. Backstrom is back!
