Struggling goalie Mike Smith stepped up with a 29-save shutout in Phoenix's 1-0 win over Vancouver Thursday night. Smith was chosen to represent Canada at the 2014 Sochi Olympics nine days ago, but that's been his only good news of late. Smith had been 0-5-2 in his past seven decisions dating back to Dec. 21, and he was 3-9-5 dating to Nov. 21. But Smith looked sharp and controlled rebounds well in registering his 25th career shutout and first this season. He now has a 16-13-8 record with a 2.85 GAA and .911 save percentage.

Mike Smith allowed two goals on 18 shots, losing yet again Tuesday night, this time to St. Louis. Smith has won once in the past month, going 1-7-3 during that span. The Canadian Olympian is now 15-13-8 with a .908 save percentage and 2.92 goals against average.

Mike Smith and the Coyotes soundly beaten by Winnipeg in a 5-1 loss Monday. Smith allowed all five goals on 38 shots against in Paul Maurice's Winnipeg debut and the Coyotes seemed overmatched from the start. The loss drops the Olympian's record to 15-12-8 while his GAA and save percentage move to 2.95 and .909, respectively.

Mike Smith will get the nod Monday and there's a chance that he could start Tuesday night as well. "He wants to play better. If he plays better, I have no problem riding him," coach Dave Tippett said. If he has a good performance then it sounds like he could face St. Louis Tuesday night. However, Thomas Greiss has been sold for the Coyotes in limited action this year and it wouldn't be surprising if he played instead.

Mike Smith should be considered Phoenix's probable starter on Monday. He was the first goaltender off the ice during the morning session, which indicates he'll get the nod against Winnipeg. Smith has been struggling of late and he's eager to bounce back.

Mike Smith has been working on his game with goaltender coach Sean Burke of late. Coach Dave Tippett started Thomas Greiss on Saturday but pulled him after Greiss gave up four goals and put Smith in net. "We're going back and forth there," coach Dave Tippett said about which goalie to start. "We talk about it each day. Smitty needs some work on his game and (Burke) wanted to work with him for a couple days. Greiss, he's played very well lately." Look for Smith to get the start on Monday when they hit the road for a two game road trip.

Mike Smith let in three goals on 28 shots in Phoenix's 4-1 loss to Minnesota Thursday night. Smith lost again and he saw his record fall to 15-11-8. He also has a 2.90 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Thomas Greiss has been fantastic between the pipes lately so it will be interesting to see will Smith or Greiss start against Anaheim on Saturday night.

Mike Smith will play between the pipes on Thursday. Smith got Tuesday's game off. He has a 2.89 GAA and .911 save percentage in 35 contests in 2013-14.

Mike Smith didn't have his best night, giving up four goals in Phoenix's 5-3 loss to the Flyers on Saturday night. Smith made just 23 saves on 27 shots on net. The netminder has yet to win in his five outings. He has a 2.89 goals-against average and .911 save percentage on the season.

Mike Smith blocked 29 of 31 shots in Phoenix's 2-0 loss to Columbus Thursday evening. Smith played a solid game after his horrible game against Edmonton on Tuesday. Smith now has a 15-9-8 record with a 2.86 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.
