Ribeiro scored an assist for the second straight game Thursday against the Coyotes. He also saw a season-high 18:28 in ice time, including 4:12 on the power play.

Ribeiro was bumped up to the second line Thursday after Mike Fisher was scratched with an upper-body injury. Ribeiro will likely be dropped back to third-line status once Fisher returns, but fantasy owners should take advantage of his top-six status while it lasts. With six points in 10 games this season, Ribeiro is on pace for another 50-point season similar to last year, so if that's the output level you had in mind when you drafted him, he shouldn't be disappointing you right now.

Ribeiro scored his first goal of the season during Friday's loss to Detroit.

Ribeiro's shot volume isn't going to reward many goals, as he's registered just three shots on net to start the year. He recorded just 76 shots through 81 games last season, too. And while he's a good bet to provide plenty of assists, it is the only category he helps in other than penalty minutes. Also, at 36, Ribeiro's best offensive years are in the rear-view mirror. He's a low-end center option in most fantasy settings at this stage of his career.

The Predators plan to keep Ribeiro around next season, though general manager David Poile said the forward "really needs to have the summer of his life to regain his position back on the top two lines," The Tennessean reports.

EDGE Analysis

Ribeiro only had two points through two playoff rounds, and Preds coach Peter Laviolette went as far as benching him against the Sharks in Games 3 and 4 of the conference semifinals. Perhaps the biggest knock on the 36-year-old is that he doesn't always give it his all in the defensive zone and isn't much of a scoring threat at this juncture. His seven goals in the regular season counted as his lowest output in 13 seasons, though he did manage to set up 43 goals. Ribeiro has one year left on his contract with the Predators. He'll garner $3.5 million next season, but it sounds like he'll be shown the door if he doesn't step up in 2016-17.

Ribeiro was not on the ice for pregame warmups, indicating he will serve as a healthy scratch for Tuesday's Game 3 against the Sharks, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.

As The Tennessean's Adam Vingan notes, Ribeiro's postseason has been rather lackluster thus far, having produced just one assist and a minus-3 rating in over nine postseason games. It's quite possible this will be just a one-game break for him but Pontus Aberg will look to take advantage of his first NHL action.
