He could maintain his recent productivity with a short-term boost in playing time given Hertl's injury, which is not expected to be serious.

This was arguably Granlund's best game of the season. He netted a go-ahead goal early in the third period before setting up a Mike Hoffman tally just over a minute later. While this was a positive step, consistent offense will likely remain difficult to achieve with the Sharks.

It appears as though Granlund will be able to return to the lineup Sunday against Washington after being listed as a game-time decision. He picked up one hit and logged 15:36 of ice time in San Jose's season opener against Vegas on Oct. 12 prior to getting injured.
