Miikka Kiprusoff was forced from Tuesday's game against the Red Wings due to a lower body injury. We're not sure of all the details just yet, but this certainly was not performance-related as the Flames are leading 3-1 after two periods. Leland Irving is getting his first taste of NHL action in relief.

Mikka Kiprusoff's struggles continued Saturday night as he allowed two goals on 19 shots, including the game tying goal with 3 seconds left, as Calgary eventually lost 3-2 to Chicago in a shootout. Kiprusoff is on his way to setting several career lows this season. He's 1-3-2 with an .859 save percentage and 3.42 goals against average.

Veteran Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff is off to a poor start with a 3.76 goals-against average, an .854 save percentage and a 1-3-1 record. Calgary coach Bob Hartley, however, insists he is not worried. "I'll be very honest with you, Miikka Kiprusoff was one of the reasons why I decided to come to Calgary, and I still feel the same way," Hartley said. "If I was a betting man, I know that Miikka Kiprusoff is going to win way more games for the Calgary Flames than he's going to lose. He's one of the best goalies in the league. I feel very comfortable, very confident with Miikka, and I know that he's going to bounce back."

Veteran goaltender Mikka Kiprusoff stopped only 16 of the 21 Colorado shots he faced Thursday night and the Flames dropped a 6-3 decision to the visiting Avalanche. Kiprusoff is now 1-3-1 on the season.

It wasn't pretty, but Mikka Kiprusoff collected his first victory of the season Saturday night with a 4-3 win over Edmonton. Kiprusoff stopped 17 of 20 shots to improve his record to 1-2-1 on the year. His stats are still struggling though, with a .872 save percentage and 3.44 goals against average.

Miikka Kiprusoff played well on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as the Vancouver Canucks took a 3-2 shootout win against his Calgary Flames. He stopped 34 out of 36 shots, but it wasn't enough for his first win of 2012-13. Kipper at least fared better than he had previously this season; even with a strong performance Wednesday, his overall stats (.876 save percentage and 3.59 GAA) are putrid. Luckily, he should get plenty of opportunities to regulate his numbers in this 48-game season. He's not particularly appealing fantasy-wise unless you merely want to avoid missing weekly games played marks.

Mikka Kiprusoff turned away 19 of 24 shots in the Flames' 5-4 loss to the Anaheim Ducks in Calgary Monday night. It was Kiprusoff's second loss in two starts this season. He allowed four goals on 29 shots in a 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks Sunday. This figures to be a tough season for the aging Kiprusoff and the Flames.

Miikka Kiprusoff will play again for Calgary on Monday after allowing four goals on 29 shots versus San Jose Sunday night. The Flames dropped their opener to the Sharks by a score of 4-1 and now they'll face another dangerous team when they welcome the Anaheim Ducks into town. The fact that Kiprusoff is starting again shouldn't come as much of a shock because he has been a workhorse since joining Calgary in 2005-06. The veteran netminder has played 70 or more contests for the last seven seasons.

Miikka Kiprusoff allowed four goals on 29 shots in the Flames 4-1 loss to San Jose Sunday. Not exactly the way Flames fans had hoped the season would begin, but it would appear the anemic offense that plagued the club last season has carried over into this year. Expect Kiprusoff to be among the league leaders in games played, but it's hard to expect superior performance stats.

The 48-game schedule will make Miikka Kiprusoff all the more important to the Calgary Flames. "It's going to be crazy, such a short period of time, so many games," mused Kiprusoff. "It's going to be interesting, how we practice, how we handle our time. It's new for all of us. If you're a goalie and you feel good, things are going well, playing games every other day is perfect." Kiprusoff is always a critical player for the Flames, although it unfortunately won't be that way for much longer. He turned 36 in October and only has two seasons left on his contract. We don't expect Kiprusoff show signs of a decline this season, but at his age it's hard to see him playing for much more than a few more years.
