Bunting was demoted to AHL Tucson on Monday.

Bunting scored his a goal in his first career NHL contest on Dec. 11 and it was the only point he scored in three games during his stint with the big club. He will return to the Tucson Roadrunners where he's racked up 18 points and 26 penalty minutes in 20 AHL games this season.

The Coyotes recalled Bunting from AHL Tuscon on Friday.

Arizona's forwards are littered with injuries, so Bunting was brought up to provide depth and work in the bottom six. He's in his fourth season in the AHL and is still looking for his NHL debut. Bunting has 18 points in 20 minor-league games this year but it remains to be seen if his play can translate to another rank.

Bunting has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Coyotes.

Bunting posted a career-best 43 points with AHL Tucson last season, providing enough spark to warrant another two-way contract from the Coyotes. Still just 22, the 2014 fourth-round pick has yet to crack an NHL roster, but continue play near his current level could eventually result in his debut.

Bunting has been extended a qualifying offer by the Coyotes.

EDGE Analysis

Bunting enjoyed his best season yet as a pro in 2017-18, totaling 23 goals and 43 points in 67 games with AHL Tucson, so the Coyotes are clearly interested in seeing if he'll continue to improve this season, and whether his success in the minors may ultimately translate to success with the big club. However, there's no reason for fantasy owners to have the 2014 fourth-round pick on their radars at this point.
