Matt Stajan left Monday's game in overtime after being struck by a knee-on-knee hit. The Flames didn't provide an update on Stajan's condition after the game. He has 16 points and 20 penalty minutes in 29 games this season.

Matt Stajan recorded the game-winning goal in overtime for Calgary in a matinee match versus Buffalo on Saturday. Stajan has six goals and nine assists in 24 games this season, but he has picked up five points in his last six matches. Paul Byron scored Calgary's other marker in the contest and he earned an assist as well.

That's where you learn and that's where you get better." With the deep leg contusion, it may be a while for Stajan to even begin skating so Sean Monahan could be staying the whole season rather than the Flames even thinking about sending him back to junior hockey.

One can assume that the Calgary Flames will soon place Matt Stajan on the injured reserve, as they pronounced him out week-to-week with a deep leg contusion. The loss is biggest for Stajan, 29, who's in a contract year with an undeniably uncertain NHL future. For the Flames, it likely opens the door for young players to get some reps at the highest level. It's doubtful many fantasy owners were counting on much from Stajan, either.

Matthew Stajan (undisclosed) is questionable to play Friday. He got banged up in Thursday's contest at Washington and his status could be a game-time decision. If he is unable to play then Joe Colborne might make his Calgary debut in Stajan's place.
