Moulson (illness) may not be available for Friday's game against the Blackhawks, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. If Moulson is unable to play, the Sabres may need to recall a defenseman from AHL Rochester. Buffalo has a back-to-back this weekend, with Friday's game followed by a Saturday contest in Long Island.

Moulson notched a power-play goal in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs. Moulson tied the score at 3-3 less than two minutes into the third period, giving him his fifth point in as many games. It's nice to see Moulson finishing the season on a high note, but he's largely failed to provide the spark the Sabres were counting on from the top-line wing when they inked him to a five-year contract last July. With 40 points through 74 games, he's on track to finish with his lowest scoring total in a season since 2008-09.

Moulson scored a goal and an assist in Monday's 4-3 loss to Dallas. The left winger now has four points in his past five games and has played much better in the latter stages of the season. After scoring just three points in January, Moulson had nine points in February and so far has eight points in 10 games in March. The Sabres have a slate of porous opponents over the next four games, including the Coyotes twice and the Avs and Leafs once each, which might provide a small boon for Moulson. The only concern would be Moulson's lack of shots on goal, of which he has just eight in his past four games, including just one shot on goal Monday.

Moulson racked up a goal and two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Maple Leafs. Moulson has seen his fantasy value fall since returning to Buffalo, but there are certainly still reasons to have him in your lineup. He currently has 10 goals and 23 assists on the season, though he does come saddled with a minus-12 rating.

Moulson set up a pair of goals and went plus-4 in Thursday's win over the Canucks. Moulson's been a modest producer in recent times, along with the rest of the Buffalo offense, as this was his first multi-point effort since Jan. 17. However, he does now have five points in his last five games, which is what amounts to a hot streak for him this year.

Moulson snapped a 16-game goal drought with a first-period tally Tuesday against Montreal. We don't usually see Moulson have such trouble finding twine, but he struggled mightily over the course of that goal-scoring slump. Moulson actually had gone without a single shot on goal in six of the prior 10 games entering Tuesday's action. This has been easily the worst season of his career, and he's surely wishing he hadn't been traded off the Island, where he had his best years.

Moulson recorded two assists -- one coming on the power play -- in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers. Signed to a lucrative deal by the Sabres in the offseason, Moulson has simply been unable to overcome his team context to date. Part of that is self-inflicted, but with the Sabres' top line woefully overmatched against the opposition most nights, Moulson just hasn't been able to get going. The two-assist game snapped a seven-game point drought for the winger, who has only 19 points and a minus-15 rating over 43 games.

Moulson (illness) is expected to return to the lineup Saturday against the Islanders, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports. The illness has knocked Moulson out of the Sabres' past three games, but the three-day holiday break appears to have been exactly what the wingers needed to regain health. The Sabres have already reassigned three of their forwards back to AHL Rochester, a sign that Moulson is fully expected to be available for the match against his former team.

He'll miss his third straight game with what is being called the flu, but due to the ongoing concerns about the mumps virus that has spread around the league, his situation will continue to be monitored.

Moulson (illness) will not play Sunday against the Bruins, the Buffalo News' John Vogl reports. Buffalo coach Ted Nolan said the illness affecting Moulson is "flu-like" and would prevent the winger from making the trip to Boston. Moulson's next possible return is Tuesday against the Red Wings, though if he sits out that game as well, he would have an opportunity for extended rest thanks to the Christmas break.
