Matt Bartkowski was a healthy scratch Saturday night for Game 2 against the Canadiens. He took two rather costly penalties in Game 1 and was replaced by Andrej Meszaros, who registered an assist on the Bruins' first goal in a 5-3 win. Meszaros also took a bad penalty which led to a Montreal goal Saturday night so it is unlcear which of the two will get to play Monday in Game 3.

Matt Bartkowski got back in Boston's lineup on Tuesday from the flu. He missed the first two games of Boston's opening round series against Detroit with the illness. "I felt 100 percent the whole time. It was just getting re-acclimated on the first one or two shifts to the speed of the game. It's a pretty fast game," Bartkowski said. "I like playoff hockey. I think it's easier. Everyone's hard on every puck, everyone's hard on every play, so there's nothing really to worry about. You just have to be hard on everything. I like playoff hockey. It's a lot of fun." He was credited with two hits and one shot in 18:34 of ice time.

Matt Bartkowski (flu) skated on Monday in an optional practice. He has missed the first two games of Boston's opening round series with Detroit due to the flu and he's still considered day-to-day. "We've talked about Matt Bartkowski being out for that long and being sick," coach Claude Julien said. "We have to allow him to skate a little bit and get himself back into the groove of things before you throw him into a game." As a result, he may not be ready to play in Game 3 on Tuesday night.

The Boston Bruins ruled Matt Bartkowski out of the lineup for Game 2 against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. He's not particularly fantasy-relevant right now so JFYI.

Matt Bartkowski is listed as questionable for Friday's opening game of the playoffs against the Red Wings. He is battling the flu and did not practice this week. If Bartkowski can't go, Andrej Meszaros will dress in his place.

Matt Bartkowski has really picked up his game since fellow Bruin blueliner Dennis Seidenberg tore up his knee last month. The Bruins' coaching staff has doled out some of Seidenberg's playing time to Bartkowski and the 25-year-old rearguard has responded with solid play. "I think the more minutes [Bartkowski] has played, the better we've seen him play," said Boston bench boss Claude Julien. "It's kind of a normal thing for players: the more you play, the more you're involved and the better you play on most occasions. I think he's played his better hockey as of late, which is a good sign for us." Bartkowski has received over 20 minutes of ice time in six of his last nine games and has been fairly consistent in administering hits. Now if he could only increase his shot blocking (only 30 this season) and his offence (no goals and eight points) we might be willing to recommend him.

Matt Bartkowski was a healthy scratch on Monday. Bartkowski has played fairly regularly lately, although he doesn't do too much offensively. He has just six points in 22 games this season. Still, if he does manage to establish himself as an every game defenseman at the NHL level, he might have some value in leagues that use hits as a category. As it is he has 46 hits in 2013-14.

Matt Bartkowski recorded two assists in Friday's 4-2 loss to Ottawa. Bartkowski has picked up four assists in just seven games. He's not playing often enough to warrant picking up in standard leagues, but he's worth keeping an eye on because his value will need to be reassessed if he manages to earn a regular top-six defenseman spot.
