DAILY PRIME- OCTOBER 6, 2013: GOALIES GALORE & THE KID LINE IS ALRI... primepucks.com Sun 10/6/13 10:03 AM
It was a big night in the NHL yesterday with eleven games played. First some individual news; Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller sat out last night's game against Pittsburgh with a lower body injury. He is considered day to day....Columbus forward Cam Atkinson has been promoted to the top line, and he will play with Marian Gaborik and Brandon Dubinsky. Marc-Andre Fleury continues his good start allowing only 1 goal last night with 20 saves against the Sabres. Fleury has given up only one goal in two games. While they were admittedly against two teams that will likely struggle to score goals this season, New Jersey and Buffalo, still he looks good....Florida goaltender Tim Thomas came back to earth yesterday as he allowed 5 goals on 28 shots against the Blues. He was replaced by Jacob Markstrom who was no better giving up 2 goals on 6 shots. Thomas will quickly discover that the Florida defense is not comparable to the Bruins.
And The Children Shall Lead Them:
Last year young Montreal center Brendan Gallagher started on the top line between Max Pacioretty and David Desharnais. This year he finds himself on a line with two other youngsters, Lars Eller and Alex Galchenyuk. Last night this line was pure magic as they combined for six points against the Flyers, with each player getting two points. Gallagher didn't quite fit in last year on the top line, but he looks right at home with his young linemates. Keep an eye on this line as they could really develop into something special. They are all young and very talented.
Wild Night In Minnesota:
It was a wild game in Minnesota last night as the Ducks prevailed in overtime on a last second goal by Mathieu Perreault with literally only 5 seconds left in OT. Perrault had the goal and an assist, but he is not really fantasy worthy. The good news for the Wild was that their top line was outstanding all game long. Winger Zach Parise had two goals, while Jason Pominville had a power play goal, and Mikko Koivu had an assist. This could develop into one of the top lines in the NHL. Unfortunately for the Wild they do not have a lot of scoring depth behind this line.
Other Fantasy Game Notes:
St. Louis goaltender Jaroslav Halak pitched a shutout last night against Florida. Halak was rarely tested and he had only 19 saves, but this start is not going to hurt his chances of seperating himself from Brian Elliott in the race for the starting goaltender for the Blues. He should get the next few starts at worst. St. Louis...

Line Change: Mathieu Perreault will start out centering Silfverberg... dailyfaceoff.com Wed 10/2/13 7:56 PM
Perreault and Silfverberg combine to be 47 years old while Selanne himself is 43. Perreault is a fast, playmaker while Silfverberg has the quick wrister... And Selanne, well he is Teemu Selanne, 1430 career points, what more can you say. This line has the looks of one that can be very productive as a secondary scoring option for the Ducks.

Training Camp Notes: Veteran defenseman Ryan Whitney has found a home in Florida, signing with the Panthers for a one-year/ $900,000 contract. The new ownership continues to add complimentary pieces to improve the defense around starting goalie Tim Thomas.. As expected after the Cody Franson signing, the Toronto Maple Leafs have waived defenseman John-Michael Liles. Maybe a team in need of some help on the power-play will take a chance on him, but he has become a defensive liability these days.. A mild surprise in Tampa as hot-shot prospect Jonathan Drouin did not make the Lightning and will be returned to the juniors. Tremendous dynasty league upside, but there were preliminary plans to try him out with center Steven Stamkos .His time has not arrived yet, but the 18-year old has a bright future in the NHL..The Los Angeles Kings have opted to sent winger Tyler Toffoli to the minors. He impressively filled in for an injured Dustin Brown on the first line during training camp, but the team felt he was not ready yet.. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Kris Letang's lower-body injury might not be that serious. Considering his track history of getting banged up, Letang owners need to cross their fingers, as a fantasy player of his elite stature cannot be replaced. He can easily be the top fantasy defenseman in '13-14....The Washington Capitals traded C Mathieu Perreault to the Anaheim Ducks for a minor league player and a draft pick. Perreault should get a chance with the Ducks as they look for some secondary offense. Also in Perreault's favor is the familiarity with Anaheim Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, where he played in parts of 2+ seasons with Boudreau behind the Caps' bench. Keep in mind that he did have 2 straight seasons of over 100 points in the QMJHL....RW Jannik Hansen signed a 4-year extension with the Vancouver Canucks. Fans, and management, are patiently waiting for a breakout. Don't expect anything huge.
Trade: The Washington Capitals have acquired a fourth-round draft p... dailyfaceoff.com Sun 9/29/13 7:56 PM
