Marty Turco will start against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. It will be Turco's first start with the Boston Bruins. He turned aside 20 of 22 shots in Sunday's game after Tim Thomas was yanked.

Marty Turco made his first appearance of the season in relief for Tim Thomas, who received the loss as the Pittsburgh Penguins topped the Boston Bruins 5-2. Thomas was only able to make it through one period, allowing three goals on 10 shots. Turco made 20 out of 22 saves in his Bruins debut. Thomas will need a breather as the playoffs approach, so Turco could have fringe value in the last month.

Marty Turco might play between the pipes for Boston as early as Sunday. The Bruins signed Turco to serve as their backup goaltender after Tuukka Rask suffered an injury to his abdomen/groin. Tim Thomas will probably play between the pipes on Saturday, but the Bruins might decide against asking Thomas to start on two straight days. "I have to play it by ear," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "I have to see how comfortable he is and everything else. The minute he's comfortable, he's going to get an opportunity."

Marty Turco has cleared waivers and he practiced with his new Boston teammates for the first time on Wednesday. The 36-year-old Turco will backup the 37-year-old Tim Thomas for the Bruins until Tuukka Rask recovers from his lower abdomen/groin strain. Turco signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Bruins following word on Rask's injury. He will not be eligible to play in the playoffs.

Updating a previous post, the Bruins have signed Marty Turco to a one-year/$600,000 contract. The deal will be pro-rated for the rest of the season. Turco still has to pass through waivers. He was signed due to the groin injury to Tuukka Rask that will keep the Finnish goalie on the shelf for four-six weeks.

The Boston Bruins have signed Marty Turco to a contract. There are no details at this time and Turco will have to pass through waivers in order to become a Bruin. Boston signed him once they found out that Tuukka Rask would be out four-six weeks with a groin strain. Should Turco pass through waivers, he still would not be eligible for the post-season, although Rask should be back by then. He had been playing for EC Salzburg in the Austrian League after signing there in December.

Marty Turco has signed with EC Salzburg. Turco has been unable to land an NHL job after posting a 3.02 GAA and .897 save percentage in 29 games with Chicago last season. He'll participate in European Trophy Finals, which will be played from Friday to Sunday.

With goaltender Antero Niittymaki out until at least December, the San Jose Sharks might be interested in unrestricted free agent Marty Turco. Turco inked a one-year contract with the Blackhawks last season to serve as their starting goaltender. However, Corey Crawford ended up stealing the job from Turco and the veteran netminder went unsigned this summer. It's been a while since Turco has been a member of the upper echelon of hockey goaltenders, but he could still be a serviceable backup behind Antti Niemi. Right now, this is just speculation, but we'll let you know if the Sharks or anyone else signs Turco.
