He was one of the sparkplugs in the Jets' impressive comeback from a 4-0 deficit, helping to set up Dmitry Kulikov late in the second period for Winnipeg's first goal of the night and then dishing the puck to Neal Pionk for the tying goal in the third. Scheifele has scored at a point-a-game pace in each of the last three seasons, and with a goal and two helpers through the first two games of 2019-20, he's right back at it again.

Scheifele appears to have picked up right where he left off, having notched a career-high 38 goals last season. The center logged 24:08 of ice time, which included 5:35 with the man advantage, and should continue to be one of the focal points of the Jets' attack.

Scheifele will not be heading to Slovakia for the 2019 IIHF World Championship, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Scheifele set new career highs this season in goals (38), points (84) and power-play points (23), but couldn't prevent his team from falling in the first round of the playoffs. With two 80-plus point campaigns in his last three seasons, and the other being cut short by injury, there is little reason to doubt the center won't get back to the 80-point mark in 2019-20.

Jets fans would prefer their star center spend less time in the sin bin, but it helps the cause in fantasy formats.

Scheifele's time in the sin bin didn't hurt the Jets -- Oskar Sundqvist's opening goal for the Blues came at 4-on-4 -- but Scheifele has now taken three minor penalties in two games. He had 38 PIM and 84 points in 82 regular-season games, so it's a little unusual to see him drawing the ire of the officials so frequently, not that fantasy owners will mind a little extra production outside of the scoring categories.

A large part of Scheifele's success is because of his work on the power play, where he has 12 tallies and 11 helpers this season. The Blues provide a tough postseason matchup, as they've allowed the least goals per game (1.74) since the calendar flipped to 2019.
