Letestu (groin) resumed skating over the weekend. Letestu's return to ice indicates progress, but he still hasn't received clearance to rejoin the team for practice. The forward is already at the two-week mark of the two-to-four week projected timetable he was given upon suffering the injury Oct. 28.

Letestu suffered a groin pull in Tuesday's loss to the Senators and has been ruled out for two-to-four weeks, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Columbus' list of injuries is nearing comical proportions at this point, as the team already has five players on IR and an additional two (Artem Anisimov and James Wisniewski) who suffered injuries Tuesday night and are expected to miss at least a week. Letestu apparently suffered the injury on the final shift of the blowout loss, depriving the Blue Jackets of three of their top four centers heading into the season. With three goals and two assists in his nine games, Letestu was a serviceable if not exciting producer, but his absence will hurt the injury-ravaged Blue Jackets more than his fantasy owners.

Letestu scored in a losing effort against the Kings on Sunday. The goal was his third of the year, and at five points overall, he could approach his career high of 34 from last season. He even got a shift on the power play, though that likely won't happen most games.

Letestu scored his first two goals of the year Thursday, opening with a second-period shortie and finishing with the game-winner in the waning seconds of the third period. In six games this year, Letestu's got a pair of two-point efforts and four big, fat zeroes. At 29 years old and set to turn 30 during the season, there's not much upside here; don't expect him to exceed last year's 34-point output. He might not even match it.

Letestu dished out a pair of assists and was a plus-2 in Friday's win over Calgary. Letestu was held off the scoresheet in the first three games of the season, but bounced back Friday with a solid two-point effort. Coming off a career-high 34-point season in 2013-14, Letestu should be in for another decent season with a Columbus team on the rise. Playing on the third line and seeing no power-play time, it's safe to say we could see another 30-40 point season from the 29-year-old center in 2014-15.

Letestu scored a goal and added a power play assist in Thursday's 5-4 preseason win over the Blues. The Blue Jackets' initial depth chart had Letestu centering the fourth line, but with Ryan Johansen (contract dispute) and Nathan Horton (back) both out indefinitely the versatile Letestu could get a shot at a better line placement to begin the season. His fantasy ceiling would still be limited, but he's proven in the past he can have some value in deeper leagues, so he could be worth an early waiver wire grab if he winds up with a plum assignment.

Mark Letestu has seen the Blue Jackets grow substantially as a team since the Pittsburgh Penguins traded him to Columbus in 2011-12. "When I first got here (from Pittsburgh) it was more about the opportunity to play," Letestu said. "But this feels just as good, being a part of building something, being a part of taking this team to new heights that maybe the organization and the city hasn't seen yet. There's pride now in being a Blue Jacket, building it from the bottom and being a part of it. Now there's an excitement going into the off-season about where we can go and where we can get to. That's something that's pretty special right now. We still finished 15th. It's not like we won a ton of games and set the league on fire. But I don't think there will be any sneaking up on teams now. People have taken notice, and that's a good thing. That's something earned. That's something you want." 2014-15 will definitely be a big campaign for the Blue Jackets. This franchise has endured plenty of hardships and the last thing they want to do is squander the forward momentum they've managed to build.

Mark Letestu found the back of the net in Columbus' 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh in Game 1 of the first round. It was Letestu's first goal in 12 career playoff games. He started his career with Pittsburgh, but was traded to Columbus in November 2011.

Mark Letestu is looking forward to playing against his old teammates in Pittsburgh in the playoffs. While the Blue Jackets were likely hoping to meet the Rangers in the opening round, Letestu is happy it's the Penguins and hopes the team will play them like the Philadelphia Flyers do. "The Flyers are in their face and in their space all the time," Letestu said. "They frustrate them into bad penalties, then go score on the power play. It seems like that's the way to beat them. I don't think there's been any letup by us. I don't think anybody's been intimidated by their skill or the players they have. You see the way our guys go... the guys like Matty Calvert, they'll show you right away that there's no awe." The Penguins beat the Blue Jackets in all five games this season but the playoffs are a different beast and it should be close.
