In his first game with Pittsburgh, Jankowski opened the scoring early in the first period by grabbing a loose puck in front of the net and snapping it off Carter Hart's elbow and just under the crossbar. The 26-year-old then added an assist on the Pens' final goal of the night. Jankowski is coming off an awful final season with the Flames, but he's getting a chance to center his new club's third line and provide some offense behind Sidney Crosby and Evgeny Malkin.

Jankowski penned a one-year, $700,000 deal with Pittsburgh on Friday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.

Jankowski logged 2:02 of ice time per game shorthanded last season and figures to fill a similar penalty-killing role for the Pens. The 25-year-old natural center was limited to just seven points in 56 outings last year but does have two 25-point campaigns to his name. At best, Jankowski will join the third line and probably should only be considered a fantasy option in the deepest of formats.

Jankowski didn't receive a qualifying offer from Calgary, so he'll become an unrestricted free agent Friday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.

Jankowski's 26 years old and only picked up seven points in 56 games last campaign, so the Flames likely feel as though they can simply replace him on the fourth line with a younger, cheaper option and get equal, if not better production. The 6-foot-4 forward should be able to land a deal as a rotational player with a new club for the 2020-21 campaign, but he won't be relevant from a fantasy standpoint.
